Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-21-110-099 Clean the LP Turbine Heatshields

      1. Clean areas around cracks on both sides of LP turbine heatshields.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-13-310-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-21-350-092 Weld Repair the LP Turbine Heatshields

    2. Refer to: Figure

      1. Tungsten inert gas weld cracks on two sides of LP turbine heatshields if necessary.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-13-310-501.

        Use tungsten inert gas system.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-21-230-100 Do the Test for Cracks

      1. Examine welded areas for cracks.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        Use medium sensitivity level.

        No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-21-220-151 Examine the Welds

      1. Examine welds.

      2. Make sure that welds are applied correctly.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-13-310-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-21-350-093 Dress the Welded Areas

      CAUTION

      DO NOT OVERHEAT THE AREAS WHICH ARE DRESSED.
      1. If necessary, dress welds until they make a continuous surface with adjacent areas.

      2. Use hand held pneumatic grinder and rotary files, if necessary.

        No raised material is permitted on ground surfaces.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-21-350-094 Heat Treat the LP Turbine Heatshields

      1. Heat treat LP turbine heatshields.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-37-16-370-501.

        Stress relief cycle 10, except time at temperature to be 30 minutes.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-21-230-101 Do the Post Repair Inspection

      1. Do test for cracks.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        Use medium sensitivity level.

        No cracks are permitted.
