Keep material removal to a minimum.
Remove the damaged honeycomb seal segments fully.
Remaining braze thickness not more than 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) is permitted.
Machine off the worn honeycomb seal segments.

Aqueous cleaning.

No cracks are permitted.
Do the test for cracks.

Replacement honeycombs are supplied longer than necessary.
Use Belt grinder.
Cut the honeycomb seal segments to length.

Use clean gloves when you touch the clean parts.

If you replace the front honeycomb segment do not perform Step.Install the IAE 3M14220 Cross slide table onto the Spot welding machine.
Install the IAE 3M14222 Electrode holder onto the Spot welding machine.
Make sure that the electrode insert with the mark "INNER" and "OUTER" (parts of the electrode swivel) are installed.
Install the IAE 3M14223 Universal joint electrode onto the IAE 3M14222 Electrode holder.
Install the IAE 3M14221 Electrode guide onto the IAE 3M14220 Cross slide table.
Install the IAE 3M14209 Spot welding fixture onto the IAE 3M14221 Electrode guide.
Install the IAE 3M14363 Spot welding fixture (rear) onto the IAE 3M14220 Cross slide table.
Make sure that the air seal ring is installed correctly against the spacer gages (parts of the spot welding fixture).
Attach the air seal ring onto the spot welding fixture.
Align the honeycomb seal segments.
Put the honeycomb seal segments onto the air seal ring.
Use a short time and low weld amperage to safety the honeycomb seal segments without damage.
Start to weld in the middle and continue to the outer sides.
Resistance weld the honeycomb seal segments.
Apply white stop off around the edges of the air seal ring.
Refer to SPM TASK 70-31-07-310-501.
Use Process 1 if CoMat 03-151 HIGH TEMP. BRAZING FILLERPOWDER or CoMat 03-234 BRAZING FILLER TAPE is used.
Use Process 2 if CoMat 03-148 BRAZING FILLER POWDER or CoMat 03-249 BRAZING FILLER MATERIAL,Ni-BASE is used.
Vacuum braze.

SUBTASK 72-50-24-110-003 Clean the Air Seal Ring
Refer to SPM TASK 70-31-07-310-501.
Do the gravity leak test.
No unbrazed honeycomb cells around the edges of the honeycomb segments are permitted.
The minimum space between the unbonded areas of more than 0.063 sq in. (40.650 sq mm) should be 1.000 in. (25.400 mm).
The honeycomb wall thickness must not be increased by more than 0.001 in. (0.030 mm) in the area above the braze fillet.

Refer to SPM TASK 70-37-00-370-501.
Put the part in an oven for eight hours at 1450 to 1500 °F (788 to 816 °C).
Use argon or vacuum.
Cooling rate equivalent to air cooling.
Precipitation heat treat the air seal ring.

Hardness to be 22 HRC minimum or equivalent.
NOTE
If hardness is less than the minimum specified, do a subsequent heat treat as given in Step.
Examine the air seal ring for hardness.

Refer to SPM TASK 70-37-00-370-501.
Put the part in an oven for eight hours at 1450 to 1500 °F (788 to 816 °C).
Use argon or vacuum.
