Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-220-270 Measure the Oversized Instrumentation Bushing Bore on the Turbine Exhaust Case

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Do a check of the diameter at four equal distance apart locations of each oversized instrumentation bushing bore to make sure that each bore is not out of round more than 0.0008 in. (0.020 mm).

    4. If necessary, machine the bore round and do the steps 4.B. and 4.C. again.

      1. Clean the Turbine Exhaust Case.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

    5. Measure and record the diameter of each oversized instrumentation bushing bore to find the after weld diameter of the mating instrumentation bushing.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-350-220 Prepare the Bushing Detail for Weld

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    3. Prepare the repair area for weld. Use a rotary austenitic stainless steel wire brush or silicon carbide abrasive wheels to remove oxide.

      1. Clean the repair area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.

    3. Weld the repair area by one of the procedures that follow:

      1. If you weld FIG/ITEM 02-140, use the Manual Gas Tungsten Arc Weld (GTAW-MA) procedure.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-13-310-501, IAE 16-2. Use CoMat 03-378 WELDING WIRE.

      1. If you weld FIG/ITEM 21-200, use the Manual Gas Tungsten Arc Weld (GTAW-MA) procedure.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-370-106 Heat Treat the Welded Bushing Detail

    2. Heat treat the bushing by one of the procedures that follow:

    3. For FIG/ITEM 02-140, heat treat the bushing by the procedures that follow:

    4. Hold in air between 450 and 650 deg F (232 and 343 deg C) for two hours.

    5. Heat treatment must be done in 24 hours of weld, and it is recommended to do heat treat in 12 hours of weld.

    6. For FIG/ITEM 21-200, heat treat the bushing at 1375 to 1425 deg F (746 to 774 deg C) for two hours and air cool.

    3. Finish the outer diameter of the bushing by one of the procedures that follow:

    4. For FIG/ITEM 02-140, Grind the outer diameter of the bushing detail to get 0.0000 to 0.0012T in. (0.000 to 0.030T mm) interference fit.

    5. For FIG/ITEM 21-200, Machine or grind the outer diameter of the bushing detail to get 0.0000 to 0.0012T in. (0.000 to 0.030T mm) interference fit.
