Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-350-121 Remove the Studs

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the studs and lock rings.

      2. Refer to repair VRS5255 TASK 72-60-21-300-004 (REPAIR-004).

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-320-108 Machine the Hydraulic Pump Bearing Bore in the Gearbox Casing

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine the bearing bore.

      2. The diameter must be between 2.9118 in. and 2.9134 in. (73.960 mm and 74.000 mm) after the removal of the damage.

      3. Deleted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-320-109 Machine the Hydraulic Pump Bearing Mating Face in the Gearbox Casing

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine the bearing mating face.

      2. The dimensions must be between 4.6043 in. to 4.6083 in. (116.950 mm and 117.050 mm) in relation to surface F, after the removal of the damage.

      3. Deleted.

    1. SUBTASK 76-60-21-220-156 Examine the Gearbox Casing

      1. Inspect the casing for cracks in the area of the hydraulic pump bearing bore.

      2. Use a magnifying glass.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-330-097 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating

      1. Apply the chromate conversion coating to the machined surfaces.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-350-122 Install the Flanged Bushing

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Install the guide pin.

      2. Put IAE 3F10428 Guide pin 1 off in threaded hole on bearing mating face, adjacent to machined bore.

    3. Install the bushing on the IAE 3F10336 Drift, bushing (dia 67) 1 off.

      1. WARNING

        DO NOT TOUCH THE HOT PARTS WITHOUT PROTECTIVE GLOVES.

        WARNING

        HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE REDDENING AND BLISTERING OF THE SKIN IF THE HANDS ARE NOT PROTECTED.

        WARNING

        IMMERSE THE CONTACTED AREA IN COLD WATER FOR 10 MINUTES IF THE SKIN IS BURNED. IMMEDIATELY GET THE MEDICAL ATTENTION IF PAIN OR BLISTERING PERSISTS.

        Increase the temperature of the casing and/or decrease the temperature of the assembled drift and bushing.

      2. Use an oven and/or a freezer.

      3. Do not increase the temperature of the casing above 284 deg F (140 deg C).

      4. Do not decrease the temperature of the assembled drift and bushing below minus 58 deg F (minus 50 deg C).

      1. NOTE

        The difference in temperature between the parts must be 216 deg F (120 deg C).

        Remove the casing from the oven and/or the assembled drift and bushing from the freezer.

      2. Use protective gloves.

      1. CAUTION

        INSTALL BUSHING IN MACHINED BORE IMMEDIATELY AFTER REMOVAL FROM FREEZER, OTHERWISE BUSHING CANNOT BE CORRECTLY INSTALLED.

        Install the bushing into machined bore.

      2. Give sufficient back-up support at bushing bore area to prevent casing distortion when you install the bushing.

    4. Let the parts get the ambient temperature.

    5. Remove the drift and the guide pin.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-320-110 Machine the Inner Diameter of the Flanged Bushing

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine the inner diameter of the bushing.

        1. The dimension must be between 2.7553 in. and 2.7561 in. (69.985 mm and 70.004 mm).

        2. Deleted.

        3. Chamfer where necessary.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-320-111 Machine the Flange Surface of the Bushing

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine the flange surface of the bushing.

        1. The dimensions must be between 4.5236 in. to 4.5315 in. (114.900 mm to 70.004 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-330-098 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating

      1. Apply the chromate conversion coating to the machined surface of the bushing.
