General

This TASK gives the procedure to clean the fuel nozzle and support assembly with heat (pyrolytic cleaning). An alternative to this procedure is given in Cleaning-003 TASK 73-13-41-100-203.

The practices and processes referred to in this procedure by the TASK numbers are in the SPM.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 73-13-41-160-051 Clean the Fuel Nozzle and Support Assembly with Heat

    2. CAUTION

      MAKE SURE THE FUEL IS COMPLETELY REMOVED AND THE ASSEMBLY IS BACKFLUSHED AND AIR-DRIED BEFORE YOU CLEAN THE ASSEMBLY. THIS WILL REMOVE LOOSE CONTAMINATION AND PREVENT POSSIBLE DAMAGE CAUSED BY REMAINING FUEL COMBUSTION.

      Flush the assembly. Refer to Cleaning-004 TASK 73-13-41-100-204.

      1. CAUTION

        DO NOT EXCEED 1100 DEG F (593 DEG C) MAXIMUM.

        Turn the oven on. Set the temperature to 1000 deg F (538 deg C).

      2. Bake in air for up to eight hours.

    3. Remove the assembly from the oven.

    4. Flush the assembly. Refer to Cleaning-004 TASK 73-13-41-100-204.
