TASK 73-13-41-100-203 Fuel Nozzle And Support Assembly - Clean The Fuel Nozzle By Ultrasonic Procedure, Cleaning-003
General
This TASK gives the procedure to clean the fuel nozzle and support assembly by ultrasonic procedure. An alternative to this procedure is given in Cleaning-001 TASK 73-13-41-100-201.
The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK numbers are in the SPM.
Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.
To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

NONEProcedure
If necessary flush the assembly. Refer to Cleaning-004 TASK 73-13-41-100-204.
Use Alkaline Rust Remover solution.
Clean the assembly ultrasonically (Alkaline Rust Remover method). Refer to SPM TASK 70-13-02-300-503.
Use solution code 058.
Process assembly alkaline cleaner at 140 to 170 deg.F (60 to 77 deg.C) for 15 - 30 minutes. Do not exceed 60 minutes, ultrasonic process time.
NOTE
Alkaline rust solutions change the color of nickel-cadmium from the typical olive to various shades of gray. The removal of the chromate conversion coating of the nickel-cadmium causes this color change. This color change does not reduce corrosion protection by nickel-cadmium. The purpose of chromate conversion coating is to give a visual indicator that the nickel-cadmium deposit has been diffused.
Clean the Assembly ultrasonically (Heavy Duty Alkali Cleaner method). Refer to SPM TASK 70-13-02-300-503 but use solution code 058 in SPM TASK 70-33-27-330-501 and Subtask 70-33-27-180-034.
Clean the assembly ultrasonically by one of the procedure that follows:
Use clean water.
Water must be at ambient temperature.
Rinse with water.
Remove any sign of carbon with a stiff, bristle non-metallic brush.
Keep air pressure at 30 psig (206.8 kPa) maximum discharge pressure.
Dry the assembly with filtered clean, dry, compressed air through the inlet fitting and into the holes of the fairings until dry.
Examine the assembly.
Flush the assembly. Refer to Cleaning-004 TASK 73-13-41-100-204.
