General
Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.
For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.
For standard torque data and procedures refer to SPM TASK 70-41-01-400-501 and SPM TASK 70-41-02-400-501.
Special torque data and assembly tolerances are included in the procedure.
Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS approved engine oils, unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.
To identify, lubricate and install seal rings refer to SPM TASK 70-44-01-400-501.
After assembly apply CoMat 01-275 CHROMATE CONVERSION COATING FOR ALUMINIUM chromate conversion coating to any damaged surfaces protection, joint flanges and attach parts. Refer to SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.
For lockwire data and procedures refer to SPM TASK 70-42-05-400-501.
If the gear requires replacement, also replace its mating gear.
Check the circumferential clearance of the gears assembly is within limits specified in FITS AND CLEARANCE. Keep all parts in a plastic bag in the waiting period.
To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.
Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Install the filter cover on suitable support bracket.
Put the spring and the ring on the boss in the inner side of the cover.
Install the special bolt from the external side of the filter cover. Install the washer and the nut.
Torque the nut to 75 to 85 lbfin (8.474 to 9.604 Nm).
Install (79-21-41, 01-250) packing 1 off on the groove of the priming valve.
Turn the filter cover up.
Install the valve on the cover. Torque to 53 to 71 lbfin (6 to 8 Nm). Install the nut on the valve and torque to 53 to 71 lbfin (6 to 8 Nm).
Remove the oil filter cover assembly from the support bracket.
Install (79-21-41,01-330) packing 1 off on the cover mating seat.
SUBTASK 79-21-41-470-051 Assemble the Oil Filter Cover
Install the anti drain valve casing in IAE 1F10322 Base with the open side turned to the top.
Install in the casing the valve, the spring, the ring and the retaining ring. Use IAE 1F10324 Assembly fixture.
Install (79-21-41, 01-460) packing 1 off on the casing.
Check that the valve opens at 0.054 MPa (0.54 kg/sq cm) plus or minus 10 percent. Use suitable test rig.
Remove the anti drain valve from the test rig.
SUBTASK 79-21-41-470-052 Assemble the Anti Drain Valve
Install the valve on IAE 1F10323 Base with the flanged side down.
Install the valve in the casing with the open side turned to the top.
Install the spring, the ring and the retaining ring on to the valve. Use IAE 1F10324 Assembly fixture.
Check that the valve opens at 3.100 MPa (31.65 Kg/sq cm) plus or minus 5 percent with suitable test rig. If the value is not achieved, select a ring with a correct thickness to obtain the required value.
Install packing (79-21-41, 01-570) 2 off on the valve.
Remove the relief valve from the test rig.
SUBTASK 79-21-41-470-053 Assemble the Relief Valve
Install the IAE 1F10333 Base in a vice.
Install the bolt into the seat of the drive gear. If necessary use a soft drift to facilitate the operation.
Install the drive gear assembly on the IAE 1F10333 Base, with the long hub to the top.
Install the pump casing cover over the drive gear assembly.
Put (79-21-41,01-770) packings 1 off and bolts in adjacent holes of the drive gear assembly of the pump casing cover.

WARNING
DO NOT TOUCH THE HOT PARTS WITHOUT PROTECTIVE GLOVES.HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE REDDENING AND BLISTERING OF THE SKIN IF THE HANDS ARE NOT PROTECTED.IMMERSE THE CONTACTED AREA IN COLD WATER FOR 10 MINUTES IF THE SKIN IS BURNED. IMMEDIATELY GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IF PAIN OR BLISTERING PERSISTS.Heat the oil pump drive gear to 320 to 356 deg F (160 to 180 deg C).
Position the collar uppermost, and engage the notch on the drive gear with the key in the front of the drive gear assembly hub.
If necessary, set the pump drive gear. Use IAE 1F10309 Installation drift.
Attach the oil pump drive gear with the washer and the nut.
Install the IAE 1F10312 Adapter wrench on the pump drive gear.
Hold the pump drive gear with IAE 1F10312 Adapter wrench Torque the nut to 85 to 95 lbfin (9.604 to 10.734 Nm).
Remove the IAE 1F10312 Adapter wrench from the oil pump drive gear.
Remove the assembled parts from the IAE 1F10333 Base.
Install the oil pump drive gear to the drive gear assembly hub.
SUBTASK 79-21-41-470-055 Preassemble the Drive Gear Assembly, Pump Casing Cover and Oil Pump Drive Gear
Install the casing on the IAE 1F10319 Clamping fixture with the drive gear side down.
Install the (79-21-44,01-100) pressure oil filter element 1 off in to the housing.
Install the oil filter cover assembly on the casing.
Attach the cover with the six nuts and washers. Torque to 85 to 95 lbfin (9.604 to 10.734 Nm).
Install the components on the filter side.
Apply CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS approved engine oils to the packing. Install (79- 21-41,01-450) packing 1 off on the anti drain valve cover.
Install the anti drain valve in the pump casing.
Align the bolt holes.
Attach the cover with the three bolts and washers. Torque to 85 to 95 lbfin (9.604 to 10.734 Nm).
Install the anti drain valve.
Install the relief valve in the pump casing.
Align the bolt holes.
Attach the valve with the two bolts. Torque to 85 to 95 lbfin (9.604 to 10.734 Nm).
Install the relief valve.
Install (79-21-41,01-720) packing 1 off on the strainer groove.
Install the strainer in the pump casing.
Fully screw the trim valve through the flange. Install the nut on the valve. Do not tighten the nut.
Install (79-21-41,01-690) packing 1 off on the valve screw groove.
Align the bolt holes.
Attach the valve with the bolt. Torque to 85 to 95 lbfin (9.604 to 10.734 Nm).
Manually turn the trim valve to check the free axial movement during its full travel.
Install the trim valve.
Install (79-21-41,01-650) packing 2 off to the union adapters.
Install the union adapters on the casing. Torque to 18 to 35 lbfin (2 to 4 Nm).
Install the two nuts on the union adapters. Torque to 18 to 35 lbfin (2 to 4 Nm).
Install the plugs.
Turn the assembly with the pump drive gear side up.
Put driven gear (01-230) in the offset seat of the casing. Make sure manually that the gear turns freely.
Align the gears and the cover preassembled on the pump casing assembly.
Engage correctly the gears and align the cover holes with the pins on the casing.
Install the other (79-21-41,01-770) packings 2 off and bolts on the pump casing cover.
Attach the pump casing cover and the casing assembly. Torque the four bolts to 85 to 95 lbfin (9.604 to 10.734 Nm).
Manually ensure that the gears turns freely.
Install the gears and cover previously assembled.
Remove the oil pressure pump assembly from the IAE 1F10319 Clamping fixture.
Lock with CoMat 02-119 LOCKWIRE. together the nut and the adapter of the filter cover. Lockwire the adapter with the filter cover.
Lockwire with the plugs together and each plug with its nut.
Final assemble the oil pressure pump.
