General

This TASK gives the procedure for the inspection of the pin. For the other parts of the fuel cooled oil cooler, refer to Inspection/Check-000TASK 79-21-43-200-400.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

All parts must be cleaned before they are examined. Refer to TASK 79-21-43-100-400.

All parts must be visually examined for damage, corrosion and wear. Defects that are not identified in the procedure must be referred to IAE.

Do not discard the part until you are sure there are no repairs available. Refer to the instructions in Repair before a discarded part is used again or oversize parts are installed.

Parts which should be discarded can be held although no repair is available. The repair of a discarded part could be shown to be necessary at a later date.

All parts must be examined to make sure that all repairs have been completed satisfactorily.

    1. SUBTASK 79-21-43-230-055 Examine the Link Assembly (01-580) for Cracks

    2. Clean the part. Refer to Cleaning-000 TASK 79-21-43-100-400.

      1. Do the crack test on the part that is given below. Use the applicable penetrant inspection procedure.

        1. Link assembly, refer to SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

          1. Cracked

          2. Reject.

    1. SUBTASK 79-21-43-220-058 Examine the Link Assembly (01-580) Spherical Bearings

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Dimensionally examine spherical bearings bore diameter

        1. Worn

          1. Diameter less than 0.3125 in. (7.937 mm)

          2. Accept.
