This TASK describes the repair of the tube connector with subsequent separated items as follows:

Replacement of the damaged or loose rivets, refer to SUBTASK 75- 24-49-320-001, SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-001.

Replacement of the clamps, refer to SUBTASK 75-24-49-320-002, SUBTASK 75-24-49-320-003 and SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-002.

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK numbers are in the SPM.

NOTE

For more equipment and materials necessary to do this repair, refer to SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501, SPM TASK 70-11-06-300-503, SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503 or SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.
Equivalent materials or equipment may be used.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-320-051 Remove the Damaged or Worn Rivets

      1. Drill or grind off the heads.

      2. Refer to Figure.

      3. Do not damage tube connector.

      1. Hit lightly the remaining of the rivet shaft.

      2. Use minimum of force to prevent damage of the tube connector.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-230-072 Examine the Local Surface for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

      3. No cracks are permitted.

      4. Cracks to be repaired per VRS4251.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-110-064 Clean the Tube Assembly

      1. Clean the surfaces around the rivet holes.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-085 Install the New Rivets (01-400,01-401)

      1. Install the rivets.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-320-052 Remove the Damaged Clamps

      1. Remove the rivets.

      2. Refer to SUBTASK 75-24-49-320-001.

    2. Remove the clamps.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-230-073 Examine the Local Surface for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

      3. No cracks are permitted.

      4. Cracks to be repaired per VRS4251.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-110-065 Clean the Tube Assembly

      1. Clean the surfaces around the rivet holes.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-230-074 Examine the Rivet Hole Dimension

      1. Measure and examine the rivet hole dimension.

      2. Refer to Figure.

      3. If hole diameter is smaller than 0.103 in. (2.616 mm) use (Fig. Item 01-400) replacement rivet.

      4. If hole diameter is more than above, drill out to accept oversize rivet. (Fig Item 01-401).

      5. Refer to TASK 75-24-49-320-003.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-320-053 Machine Clamps and Tube to Oversize as Necessary

      1. Drill rivet holes in the clamp and the tube.

      2. Drill initial rivet holes to oversize diameter 0.1275-0.1315 in. (3.24- 3.34 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-086 Install Replacement Clamps (01-370, 01-380, 01-390), Rivets (01-400) or Oversize Rivets (01-401), as Necessary

      1. Attach replacement parts, as applicable

      2. Refer to Figure and SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501 for machine riveting procedures.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-220-091 Do the Post Repair Inspection

      1. Visually examine the quality of the machine riveting and safety of the joints.

      2. For acceptance standards refer to SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.
