Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-86-220-102 Examine the Rear Fairing Assembly for Damaged Area

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Examine the damaged area dimensionally.

      1. Make sure that the damaged area is within the repairable limits given in Figure.

    2. SUBTASK 72-32-86-350-071 Remove the Pad of the Rear Fairing Assembly, if Necessary

      1. Remove the pad(s) adjacent to the damaged area(s), if necessary.

      1. Refer to Repair, VRS1983 TASK 72-32-86-300-009 (REPAIR-009).

    3. SUBTASK 72-32-86-380-056 Prepare the Rear Fairing Assembly for the Repair

      1. Clean the area that is to be repaired.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

      2. Use wipe method.

      2. Remove any loose fibers and the raised materials from the damaged area.

    3. Do Step again.

    4. SUBTASK 72-32-86-360-060 Make Up and Apply the Two-Part Low Temperature Curing Adhesive

      1. WARNING

        DURING THE OPERATION, WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES AND GOGGLES.

        WARNING

        MAKE SURE THERE IS SUFFICIENT VENTILATION DURING THE OPERATION.

        Make up the adhesive.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-36-02-360-501.

      2. Apply the adhesive to the damaged area(s).

      1. Use a spatula or a small trowel.

    3. Remove the excess adhesive.

    5. SUBTASK 72-32-86-360-061 Cure the Two-Part Low Temperature Curing Adhesive

      1. CAUTION

        BEFORE CURING, LET THE AIR OUT OF THE ADHESIVE BY ROLLER OR EQUIVALENT.

        CAUTION

        BE CAREFUL THAT THE ADHESIVE IS NOT DEFORMED DURING CURING PROCESS.

        Cure the adhesive.

      1. Use an oven.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-36-02-360-501.

      2. Remove excess adhesive and make smooth the repaired area.

      1. Repair material must be flush to the adjacent surface profile.

      3. Surface finish on the repaired area should be same as that of the adjacent area.

      4. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.

    6. SUBTASK 72-32-86-110-057 Clean the Repaired Area of the Rear Fairing Assembly

      1. Clean the repaired area.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

      2. Use wipe method.

    7. SUBTASK 72-32-86-220-103 Examine the Repaired Area of the Rear Fairing Assembly

      1. Visually examine the repaired area.

      1. Nicks, dents, scratches, delamination or other damages are not permitted.

    8. SUBTASK 72-32-86-350-072 Install the Pad to the Rear Fairing Assembly, if Removed

      1. Install the pad(s) to the repaired area(s), if they are removed by Step.

      1. Refer to Repair, VRS1983 TASK 72-32-86-300-009 (REPAIR-009).
