WARNING
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OPERATOR TO OBTAIN AND OBSERVE THE MANUFACTURERS MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS FOR CONSUMABLE MATERIALS INFORMATION SUCH AS, HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS, PHYSICAL/CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS, FIRE, EXPLOSION, REACTIVITY, HEALTH HAZARD DATA, PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, USE AND CONTROL MEASURES AND ALSO TO TAKE LOCAL REGULATIONS INTO CONSIDERATION.This task is not approved for engine bearings. For engine bearing preservation, use SPM TASK 70-53-01-620-501.
This task includes procedures for two types of protection: long-term with petroleum inhibitors and short-term with water soluble solutions. The water soluble corrosion inhibitors reduce process time because degreasing is not necessary.
"Short-term" is a period of less than seven days.
SUBTASK 70-38-05-380-005 General
Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-48-110-501, SUBTASK 70-11-48-110-037 for the make-up of Solution Code 92.
Solution Code 92
Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-48-110-501, SUBTASK 70-11-48-110-038 for the make-up of Solution Code 93.
Solution Code 93
Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-48-110-501, SUBTASK 70-11-48-110-039 for the make-up of Solution Code 94.

SUBTASK 70-38-05-180-001 Make-up Of Water-Soluble Corrosion Inhibitor Solutions
No test or control is necessary for the water soluble corrosion inhibitors used in SPM TASK 70-38-05-380-501.
SUBTASK 70-38-05-180-002 Control Of Water-Soluble Corrosion Inhibitor Solutions
Momentarily put the part fully in one of the corrosion inhibitors in the subsequent list, then remove the part from the corrosion inhibitor:
Dip Procedure
Apply one of the corrosion inhibitors in the subsequent list to the part with a spray:
Spray Procedure
To apply petroleum-type corrosion inhibitor to local areas of a part, use a brush to apply one of the corrosion inhibitors in the subsequent list to the specified areas of the part:
Local Procedure
Do one of the procedures in the subsequent list to apply a petroleum-type corrosion inhibitor for long term protection:
SUBTASK 70-38-05-620-001-001 Apply Corrosion Inhibitor For Long-Term Protection
Solution Code 92 (refer to Step): Ambient upto 150 deg F (66 deg C).
Solution Code 93 (refer to Step): Ambient upto 170 deg F (77 deg C).
Solution Code 94 (refer to Step): Ambient upto 200 deg F (93 deg C).
Solution Code 142 (refer to Step): Ambient upto 170 deg F (77 deg C).
Solution Code 143 (refer to Step): Ambient upto 190 deg F (88 deg C).
Put the part fully one of the water soluble corrosion inhibitor solutions in the subsequent list at the specified temperature.
Let the part drain, then blow dry if the part is still wet.
Do one of the procedures in the subsequent list to apply a water-soluble corrosion inhibitor for shortterm (less than seven days) protection. If the corrosion inhibitor solution tank has air agitation, turn off the air agitation five minutes minimum before you apply the solution to the parts, and keep the air agitation off while you apply the solution to the parts.
