TASK 71-00-00-700-066 Functional Test Of The HPC Stage 7 Bleed Valve Solenoid, Testing-066
General
Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha-variants refer to the IPC.
Lubricate all threads with the approved engine oil, unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.
NOTE
To identify the consumable materials, refer to the PCI.
NOTE
The tools specified are the minimum standard for this TASK. For subsequent standards of tools refer to the Illustrated Tools and Equipment Manual (ITEM).

SUBTASK 71-00-00-030-001 Disconnect the Solenoid Supply and Servo Pipeline
Cut and discard the lockwire that safeties the solenoid supply connectors at (B) and (C).
Disconnect the solenoid supply connectors.
Remove the air supply tube.
Cut and discard the lockwire that safeties the solenoid servo connector at (D).
NOTE
Make sure you get sufficient access to the solenoid servo port.
Disconnect the solenoid servo connector.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid.
SUBTASK 71-00-00-430-001 Install the Test Set
Set the select vent switch on the test set to closed.
Set the test select switch on the test set to solenoid.
Connect the solenoid supply union (B) to the solenoid input quick release fitting on the test set with the red color-coded hose.
Connect the solenoid servo union (D) to the solenoid output quick release fitting on the test set with the green color-coded hose.
Torque the solenoid supply connectors at (B) and (C) to 204 to 221 lbf-in (23 to 25 N.m) and the servo connector at (D) to 159 to 177 lbf-in (18 to 20 N.m).
Connect the solenoid electrical connection to the 24Vdc output socket on the test set with the cable supplied.
SUBTASK 71-00-00-720-001 Test the Stage 7 Solenoid Valve
Set the channel switch on the test set to A.
Set the pressure/vacuum mode switch on the test set to pressure.
Set the power switch on the test set to off.
NOTE
After each stroke, stop for three seconds. This will let the air flow into the pump valves and make the task easier.
Use the hand pump to get 20 lb/sq in (137.895 kPa) on the solenoid input pressure gage.
Push and hold the test set test switch.
Do a check on the solenoid output pressure gage.
Solenoid output pressure increases quickly to approximately equal to, or no more than 5 lb/sq in (34.474 kPa) less than the solenoid input pressure. Pressure on both gages may slowly decrease.
Pressure on both gages decreases in less than 5 seconds.
The difference between both gages is more than 5 lb/sq in (34.474 kPa).
Release the test set test switch.
Set the power switch on the test set to on.
NOTE
After each stroke, stop for three seconds. This will let the air flow into the pump valves and make the task easier.
Use the hand pump to get 20 lb/sq in (137.895 kPa) on the solenoid input pressure gage.
Push and hold the test set test switch.
NOTE
When the test set test switch is pushed, the solenoid input pressure can gradually decrease. This can be accepted.
Do a check on the green continuity light and the solenoid output pressure gage.
Green continuity light comes on and the solenoid output pressure is zero.
NOTE
When the test set test switch is pushed, the solenoid output pressure gage can momentarily display a pressure. This can be accepted.
Green continuity light does not come on.
The solenoid output pressure is more than zero.
Release the test set test switch.
Set the channel switch on the test set to B.
SUBTASK 71-00-00-080-001 Remove the Test Set
Disconnect the electrical test lead from the solenoid valve electrical connector and the test set.
Disconnect the red and green test hoses from the solenoid supply and zero unions, and from the test set quick release connections.
SUBTASK 71-00-00-430-002 Connect the Solenoid Supply and Servo Pipeline
Connect the electrical connector to the solenoid.
Connect the solenoid supply connectors at (B) and (C), and the servo connector at (D) to the solenoid valve.
Torque the connectors (B) and (C) to 204 to 221 lbf-in (23 to 25 N.m) and connector (D) to 159 to 177 lbf-in (18 to 20 N.m).
