TASK 72-00-00-200-007 Engine General - Examine The LPT Stage 7 Blades And Vanes, Inspection-007
General
This TASK gives the procedure for the inspection of the stage 7 turbine blade and vanes. For the stage 3 turbine blades and vanes borescope inspection refer to TASK 72-00-00-200-006 (INSPECTION/CHECK-006).
All Fig/item numbers in parenthesis in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC.
The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK numbers are in the SPM.
All parts must be visually examined for damage, corrosion and wear. Any defects that are not identified in the procedure must be referred to IAE.
If you find items which are not acceptable for more engine running, the LP turbine module must be send for refurbishment. Carry out a piece part inspection and the relevant items repaired as required.
Insert lamp through engine exhaust and examine stage 7 blades and vanes to the extent possible.
The nature of damage to the LP turbine blades can be difficult to recognise with a lamp and thus extent of defects is only estimated. Thus inspections carry out only by experienced personnel.
If not possible to identify the nature or extent of damage more investigation is required to pinpoint cause and acceptability.

NONEProcedure
Do a borescope inspection, refer to TASK 72-00-00-200-006 (INSPECTION/CHECK-006). If the same deposits are found at stage 3 turbine blades, examine the other parts of the engine, refer to TASK 72-00-00-200-000 (INSPECTION/CHECK-000). If deposits are not found at stage 3, continue with the examination of the LP turbine module
Deposits not caused with normal engine running
Examine the stage 7 turbine blades and the stage 7 turbine vanes for deposits.
