This TASK gives the procedure to clean the Pre SB 72-0375/Pre SB 72-0384 LP compressor fan blade assembly.

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK/SUBTASK number are in the SPM.

To remove the dry film lubricant, use either Step or Step.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-31-11-110-055 Remove the Soft Dirt and the Dust

      1. Remove the soft dirt and the dust. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.

      1. Do not soak. Use a soft bristle brush or swab.

      2. Dry.

      1. Use clean dry air blast or CoMat 02-099 LINT-FREE CLOTH.

    2. SUBTASK 72-31-11-110-096 Clean the LP Compressor Fan Blade Assembly

      1. NOTE

        Do this procedure only if more cleaning is required to complete the inspection requirement.

        Remove the grease. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

    3. SUBTASK 72-31-11-110-097 Clean the LP Compressor Fan Blade Assembly

      1. NOTE

        Do this procedure only if more cleaning is required to complete the inspection requirement.

        Clean the part. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-06-300-503 SUBTASK 70-11-06-300-002.

      1. Use method 2, low concentration, long soak. Use CoMat 01-145 ALKALINE RUST REMOVER.

    4. SUBTASK 72-31-11-110-056 Remove the Chocking Pads

      1. Remove the chocking pads.

      1. Use hand method or non-metallic scraper.

      2. Remove the residual adhesive.

      1. Use non-metallic scraper.

      3. Wash.

      1. Cold water.

    4. Do Step and Step again if necessary.

      5. Dry.

      1. Use clean dry air blast.

    5. SUBTASK 72-31-11-110-057 Remove the Dry Film Lubricant

    1. CAUTION

      DO NOT APPLY THIS SUBTASK TO THE POST SB 72-0375 AND POST SB 72-0384 METCO 58 COATED FAN BLADES. REFER TO TASK 72-31-11-100-002-B00 FOR THEM.

      NOTE

      This SUBTASK and Step are alternatives.

      Remove the dry film lubricant. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-29-300-503.

    6. SUBTASK 72-31-11-120-051 Remove the Dry Film Lubricant

      1. CAUTION

        DO NOT APPLY THIS SUBTASK TO THE POST SB 72-0375 AND POST SB 72-0384 METCO 58 COATED FAN BLADES. REFER TO TASK 72-31-11-100-002-B00 FOR THEM.

        NOTE

        This SUBTASK and Step are alternatives.

        Remove the anti-frettage lubricant from the blade dovetails. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-12-07-120-501.

      1. Plastic blast.

    7. SUBTASK 72-31-11-110-068 Remove the Polyurethane Paint

      1. Remove the polyurethane paint. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-29-300-503.
