TASK 72-40-00-300-006 No. 4 Bearing/HPT Nut - Replace Nut Silver Plate And Treat With Anti-Galling Compound, Repair-006 (VRS3011)
General
If you did the procedure in Rework 001, TASK 72-40-00-840-001 (REWORK-001) to get PN 2A2247, you do not have to remove the eight plugs (PN 2A2248) to do this repair.
This repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in 72-40-00-200-000 (INSPECTION/CHECK-000).
The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by TASK number are in the SPM.

Refer to the SPM TASK 70-33-16-300-503.
Remove the silver plate.
SUBTASK 72-40-00-330-055 Remove the Silver Plate from the Bearing Retaining Nut
NOTE
If SB 72-0095 was incorporated in the field, then PN 2A2247 will have 16 holes with eight metering plugs. Remove the metering plugs before the removal of the silver plate. Procured PN 2A2247 will have only eight holes and no metering plugs.Refer to Figure and SPM TASK 70-38-24-300-503.
Mask the areas that are not to be plated.

Refer to the SPM TASK 70-33-16-300-503.
Apply silver plate between 0.0003 and 0.0006 in. (0.008 and 0.015 mm) in thickness.
Apply silver plate to the retaining nut.

Refer to Figure.
Examine the retaining nut after the silver plate has been applied. Complete plating coverage is required on all threads.

Apply CoMat 10-130 ANTIGALLING COMPOUND to the retaining nut after you apply silver plate.
SUBTASK 72-40-00-380-054 Apply Antigalling Compound to the Areas of the Bearing Retaining Nut
NOTE
If SB 72-0095 was incorporated in the field, then re-install the metering plugs. Do not plug the holes with antigalling compound.Make a permanent mark by TASK 70-09-00-400-501.
Refer to Figure for the only permitted location of electrical contact.
Use the vibro-peen method to make a mark VRS3011 adjacent to the part number.
