TASK 72-40-00-300-010 No. 4 Bearing/HPT Nut - Repair The Front Inner Diameter By Nickel Plate, Repair-010 (VRS3489)
General
If you did this procedure in Rework 001, TASK 72-40-00-840-001 (REWORK-001) to get PN 2A2247, you do not have to remove the eight plugs (PN 2A2248) to do this repair.
This repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in 72-40-00-200-000 (INSPECTION/CHECK-000).
The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK numbers are in the SPM.

Refer to Figure and SPM TASK 70-33-55-330-501.
Remove the silver plate and anti-galling compound from the retaining nut.
SUBTASK 72-40-00-330-057 Remove the Silver Plate and Anti-Galling Compound from the Bearing Retaining Nut
Apply masking wax compound by the SPM TASK 70-38-24-300-503.
Use CoMat 02-021 MASKING WAX COMPOUND, CoMat 02-022 MASKING WAX COMPOUND, CoMat 02-023 MASKING WAX COMPOUND or CoMat 02-038 MASKING WAX COMPOUND (HIGH TEMPERATURE).
No nickel plate is permitted in the cooling air holes and slots.
Apply the masking wax compound to all the areas that are not to be nickel plated.

Refer to Figureor Figureand SPM TASK 70-33-06-300-503.
Apply a sufficient thickness plate to permit the finish machining of the diameter.
Apply the nickel plate to the front inner diameter only.

Make sure the front inner diameter has the requirements given in the figure. Refer to Engine Manual Inspection TASK 72-40-00-200-011 (INSPECTION/CHECK-011).
Examine the retaining nut.

Make a permanent mark by the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.
Use the vibro-peen method to make a mark VRS3489 adjacent to the part number.
