WARNING

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OPERATOR TO OBTAIN AND OBSERVE THE MANUFACTURER'S MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS FOR CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. THESE CONTAIN INFORMATION SUCH AS, HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS, PHYSICAL/CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS, FIRE, EXPLOSION, REACTIVITY, HEALTH HAZARD DATA, PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, USE AND CONTROL MEASURES AND ALSO TO TAKE LOCAL REGULATIONS INTO CONSIDERATION.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-11-110-056 Clean the Disks

      1. Clean the disks. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

        1. Aqueous clean.

        2. You must drain the internal pockets. Use a syphon tube.

      1. CAUTION

TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION AFTER THE WASH, USE CLEAN POLYTHENE OR COTTON GLOVES, WHEN YOU HANDLE THE DISKS.

        Wash the Disks

        1. Measure the conductivity of the demineralized water.

        2. Make a record of the value. If the conductivity is more than 20 microsiemens/cm (20 micromho/cm), replace the demineralized water. Do this again until the conductivity is less than 20 microsiemens/cm (20 micromho/cm).

        1. Put the HP Compressor Stage 3 to 8 Disks fully into the demineralized water for 5 minutes.

        2. Turn the HP Compressor Stage 3 to 8 Disks to prevent air locks. Make sure all the surfaces are washed.

      2. Remove the HP Compressor Stage 3 to 8 Disks from the tank.

        1. Measure the conductivity of the demineralized water between the disks and the internal pockets.

        2. Compare the value with the value in Step.

      3. Do Step to Step again until the conductivity readings at Step and Step are the same.

        1. Drain the demineralized water from the internal pockets.

        2. Use a syphon tube.

      1. Dry the HP Compressor Stage 3 to 8 Disks, in an oven.

      2. Dry for 2 hours at 374 to 410 deg F (190 to 210 deg C).

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-11-110-057 Remove the Grease

      1. Remove the grease. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-34-300-503.

      2. Aqueous degrease.

If the conductivity is more than 20 siemens (MHOS), replace the demineralized water. Do this again until the conductivity is less than 20 siemens (MHOS).

      1. Check drum inner cavities are clean.

      2. Visual with white light source and mirror.

      3. If part is clean then proceed to Step. If stains or scale or mineral deposits remain proceed to Step.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-11-110-058 Remove Oxidation

      CAUTION

THIS PROCEDURE MUST ONLY BE ACCOMPLISHED IF INNER CAVITY SCALE OR MINERAL DEPOSITS CAN NOT BE REMOVED BY STEP 2.
    2. Remove shank nuts and liners. Refer to the repair, VRS6007 TASK 72-41-11-300-002 (REPAIR-002).

      1. Remove scale or mineral deposits from inter cavities. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-06-300-503.

        1. Long soak

        2. Low alkaline solution. You must drain the inter cavities. Use a syphon tube.

      1. Check the disks are clean.

        1. Visual with white light source and mirror.

        2. If part is clean then proceed to Step. If stains or mineral deposits remain proceed to Step.

      1. Wipe clean contamination from surface. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.

        1. Swab or wipe clean with solvent.

        2. Use an applicator to apply solvent.

      1. Check the disks are clean.

        1. Visual with white light source and mirror.

        2. If part is clean then proceed to Step. If stains or mineral deposits remain repeat from Step.

      1. CAUTION
