Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-12-320-052 Machine the Front Outside Diameter

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Set up and machine the front outside diameter to between 16.123 and 16.137in. (409.52 and 409.88 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-12-230-057 Do a Crack Test on the Front Outside Diameter

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Do a fluorescent penetrant inspection on the front outside diameter.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-04-230-501.

      3. No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-12-380-052 Shot Peen the Front Outside Diameter

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Shot peen the front outside diameter at an intensity of 6A.

    4. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-13-380-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-12-380-065 Prepare the Surface of the Front Outside Diameter

      1. Prepare the surface for coating.

      2. Apply a mask as necessary.

      3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-18-380-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-12-340-051 Plasma Spray the Front Outside Diameter

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Plasma spray the front outside diameter.

      2. Apply the plasma spray to a sufficient thickness which will permit the final machining of the 16.144 to 16.146 in. (410.06 to 410.11 mm) diameter.

      3. The maximum thickness of the plasma spray must be 0.015 in. (0.38 mm).

      4. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

      1. Set up and machine the front outside diameter to between 16.144 and 16.146 in. (410.06 and 410.11 mm).

      2. The minimum plasma spray coating thickness is 0.003 in. (0.08 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-12-220-071 Examine the Repair

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Visually examine the coated area for chips, cracks, lifted material and coating that is not attached to the base metal. Surfaces that show heat cracks are not acceptable.

      2. Use a 7x magnifying glass or less.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-12-350-055 Identify the Repair

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Make a mark VRS3444 adjacent to the part number.

      2. Make a permanent mark by the procedure given in the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.

      3. Use the deep electrolytic etch method.

      4. See the figure for the electrical contact area. No burning, pitting or selective attack from the electrical contact is permitted.
