Refer to Figure.
Remove the tube coupling nut and thrust wire. Discard the thrust wire.
SUBTASK 72-42-20-350-056 Remove the Tube Coupling Nut and Thrust Wire from the No.4 Bearing Cooling Tube
Refer to Figure.
Grind the weld which holds the heatshield to the tube. Remove and discard the heatshield.
Grind the remaining weld from the tube until the weld is flush with the base metal of the tube.
SUBTASK 72-42-20-350-057 Remove the No.4 Bearing Heatshield
Use a Silicon carbide rag wheel or equivalent.
Clean the repair area.

Fluorescent penetrant inspect the repair area.

NOTE
The fusion weld location can vary + 0.060in. (1.524 mm).
Weld the new 2A3136 HEATSHIELD - NO. 4 BEARING TUBE to the tube.

Refer to SPM TASK 70-37-01-370-501.
Stress-relieve the tube.

Use a Silicon carbide rag wheel or equivalent.
Blend the surface of the weld to remove scratches, grind marks or discontinuities.
SUBTASK 72-42-20-350-058 Blend the Repair Area
Refer to Figure.
Position the wire in the hole in the nut. Use a Mallet or an Air hammers and an Anvil to move the thrust wire into position.
Install the coupling nut with the new AS15782 WIRE, THRUST.

Refer to Inspection-000 TASK 72-42-20-100-100.
Examine the tube after repair.

Make a permanent mark by the procedure given in SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.
Use a Vibrating marking pencil. Remove high metal caused by marking the number.
Make a mark VRS3022 on the repaired No.4 bearing cooling tube adjacent to part number .
