General
This Repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in TASK 72-42-40 Inspection/Check.
This TASK gives the procedure to repair the casing location diameter of the HP Compressor Stage 12 OG vanes by metal spray.
TASKs identified by SPM TASK are in the Standard Practices and Processes Manual (SPM).

Use IAE 3R19358 Grinding fixture grinding fixture 1 off.
Use IAE 3R19025 TBD 1 off.
Use a dial test indicator and standard workshop equipment.
Install the applicable grinding fixture into the grinding machine and set to turn correctly.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-32-00-320-501.
Grind only the minimum quantity of material to remove coating or scores.
NOTE
Minimum axial width of machined area must be 0.315 in. (8.00 mm).
Grind the location diameter to remove all damage. If a metal spray coat has been applied before, make sure all the metal spray coat is removed.

CAUTION
DO NOT REMOVE MORE MATERIAL THAN IS NECESSARY. IF YOU REMOVE MORE MATERIAL THAN IS NECESSARY, YOU CAN MAKE THE PART UNSERVICEABLE.Refer to Figure.
Use IAE 3R19023 Blast mask 1 off or CoMat 02-001 ADHESIVE TAPE (MASKING).
Apply mechanical mask or masking tape.

Use CoMat 05-196 ALUMINUM OXIDE, 180-GRIT and abrasive blast equipment.
Abrasive blast the surface for repair.

CAUTION
DO NOT TOUCH THE SURFACE WHICH IS CLEANED FOR REPAIR. IF YOU CONTAMINATE THE CLEANED SURFACE, YOU CAN CHANGE THE BOND OF THE METAL SPRAY.Refer to Figure.
SUBTASK 72-42-40-350-054 Mask the Areas not to be Repaired
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-01-340-501.
Use CoMat 03-036 METAL SPRAYING WIRE, Ni,Al or CoMat 03-038 METAL SPRAYING POWDER NICKEL ALUMINIUM (95/5).
Apply sufficient material to give a continuous coat of between 0.003 and 0.0197 in. (0.07 and 0.500 mm).
Use metal spray equipment.
Apply bond coat.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-01-340-501.
Apply sufficient metal spray to get the correct dimensions when machined.
Use metal spray equipment.
Remove mechanical mask or masking tape when this operation is completed.
Apply top coat.

Use dial test indicator and standard workshop equipment.
