Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-40-120-051 Remove the Plasma Coat from the Stage 1 HPT Outer Seal Assembly

    2. CAUTION

      HIGH PRESSURE WATER BLAST PROCEDURE WILL NOT REMOVE THE ENGINE RUN PLASMA COAT AND CAUSE POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE PART. IF NECESSARY, USE HIGH PRESSURE WATER BLAST PROCEDURE ONLY AFTER THE SPM TASK 70-33-90-300-503 TO REMOVE THE REMAINING PLASMA COAT.

      Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the plasma coat.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-33-90-300-503.

      1. If necessary, remove the remaining plasma coat by high pressure water blast.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-15-01-160-501.

        2. Make sure that the thickness of the base metal is a minimum of 0.041 in. (1.04 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-40-380-002 Prepare the Surface of the Stage 1 HPT Outer Seal Assembly

      1. Prepare the surface for coating.

        1. Apply a mask as necessary.

        2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-18-380-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-40-340-051 Apply Plasma Coating to the Stage 1 HPT Outer Seal Assembly

      1. Apply plasma coating to the inside diameter of the seal assembly.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-40-220-061 Examine the Plasma Coating on the Stage 1 HPT Outer Seal Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Examine the coating after repair.
