Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-320-054 Remove the Locating Pin from the Stage 1 HPT Cooling Duct

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Drill out the flared shank with a bit that is slightly smaller than 0.182 in. (4.6228 mm) diameter.

    4. Use a drift to push out the remaining part of the 2A0869 PIN - SHOULDER that is in the hole.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-330-051 Remove the Existing Coating by Stripping

    2. The stripping procedure is only for TOBI ducts that were repaired per VRS3181 before. If this procedure was done before, VRS3181 will be next to the part number. If the repair was not done before, remove the wear by machining. Refer to Step.

    3. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Strip to remove the coating from Diameter F.

      2. Apply masks or maskants to the areas not to be stripped. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-24-300-503. Use CoMat 02-047 TAPE, HEAT REFLECTIVE or equivalent.

      3. Strip the coating by the procedure given in SPM TASK 70-33-78-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-320-052 Remove the Coating and/or Wear by Machining

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Machine to remove the coating and/or wear from Diameter F.

      2. Machine the diameter to the before plasma coat dimensions shown in Figure and Figure.

      3. Remove the minimum amount of material possible to keep in the limits given in the figure.

      4. Break the edges 0.003 in. to 0.015 in. (0.076 mm to 0.381 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-230-073 Do a Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection of the Repair Area

    2. If grind procedure is done, do a fluorescent penetrant inspection of the repair area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-110-066 Clean the Stage 1 HPT Cooling Duct

    2. Clean the stage 1 HPT cooling duct by aqueous cleaning.

    3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-220-127 Examine the Repair Area

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

    3. Do a dimensional and visual inspection of the repair area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-350-090 Grit Blast the Repair Area

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Prepare the repair area for plasma coat by SPM TASK 70-34-18-380-501.

      2. Grit blast out of repair area(s) is not permitted. Use masks or maskants.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-340-051 Plasma Spray Repair Diameter F

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Plasma spray Diameter F.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

      3. No overspray is permitted. Use masks or maskants.

      4. Coat to a sufficient thickness to allow for finishing.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-320-081 Remove masks or maskants.

    2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-34-18-380-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-320-053 Finish Machine Diameter F after Plasma Spray

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Machine Diameter F after plasma spray. Refer to SPM TASK 70-32-07-100-501.

      2. The minimum thickness of the plasma coat must be 0.003 in. (0.076 mm) after machining.

      3. Break the edges 0.003 in. to 0.015 in. (0.076 mm to 0.381 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-110-067 Clean the Part

    2. Clean the part by aqueous cleaning.

    3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.
