Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-33-320-051-001 Remove the Coating from the Front Outer Mating Face

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      NOTE

      Do this procedure only if the part was repaired by VRS3515 before. If the part was repaired before, you will see VRS3515 marked near the part number. If the part was not repaired before by VRS3515 then ignore Step and then do the procedure in Step.
      1. Grind the front face on Surface S to remove all the coating by SPM TASK 70-32-07-100-501. Use IAE 53-18.

      2. Remove a minimum amount of parent material. All the coating must be removed.

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-33-320-051-002 Machine or Grind to Remove Wear or Damage from the Front Outer Mating Face

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      NOTE

      Do this procedure only if the part was NOT repaired by VRS3515 before. If the part was repaired before, you will see VRS3515 marked near the part number. If the part was repaired before by VRS3515, do the procedures in Step.
      1. Machine or grind the front face on Surface S to remove all the damage or wear by SPM TASK 70-32-07-100-501. Use IAE 53-18.

      2. Remove a minimum amount of parent material.

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-33-100-051 Clean the Stage 2 HPT Retaining Plate

      1. Clean the retaining plate.

      2. Do the procedure given in SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-33-230-060 Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection of the Front Outer Mating Face

      1. Do a fluorescent penetrant inspection of the front outer mating face.

      2. Do the Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) procedure by the applicable part number task given in TASK 72-45-33-200-000 (Inspection-000). Cracks are not permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-33-220-087 Examine the Repair Area before Coating

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Do a dimensional inspection of the repair area.

      2. The dimension from the front face to Surface A must be between 0.219 in. and 0.232 in. (5.56 mm and 5.89 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-33-120-051 Grit Blast the Front Outer Mating Face before Coating

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Apply masks and grit blast the front outer mating face for plasma coat.

        1. Refer to SPM TASK 70-34-18-380-501.

        2. Grit blast outside of the repair area is not permitted.

        3. Shotpeen is not required on the repair area.

        4. Use masks or maskants.

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-33-340-051 Plasma Spray the Front Outer Mating Face

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Plasma spray the front outer mating face.

      2. Make sure the masking is still applied in all the areas not to be coated. Apply the plasma spray to a thickness which will permit you to final machine the part to the dimensions given in the figure. The minimum thickness of the coating after finish machining is 0.003 in. (0.08 mm). Do the procedure given in SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

    3. Remove the masks or maskants after plasma spray. Refer to SPM TASK 70-34-18-380-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-33-320-052 Finish Grind the Front Outer Mating Face after Plasma Spray

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Finish grind the front outer mating face of the retaining plate by SPM TASK 70-32-07-100-501.

      2. The minimum thickness of the coating after machining is 0.003 in. (0.076 mm).

        Break the edges to 0.003 in. to 0.015 in. (0.08 mm to 0.38 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-33-220-088 Examine the Repair

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Examine the front mating face.

      2. The dimension from the front outer mating face to Surface A must be between 0.232 in. and 0.242 in. (5.89 mm and 6.15 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-33-350-051 Identify the Repair

      1. Permanently mark the part. Refer to Figure for the marking location. Ensure the part is marked as follows:

      2. Mark the part with "VRS3515" adjacent to the part number by SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501, subtask 70-09-00-400-001, using the vibration peen, dot peen or electrolytic etch methods. Remove high spots caused by marking.

      3. Refer to Figure for the electrical contact area.

      4. No burning, pitting or selective attach on the electrical contact areas is permitted.

    2. NOTE

      If VRS3515 is marked on the part, it is not necessary to mark the part again.
