Use the IAE 3M14318 Turning fixture 1 off and vertical turning lathe.
Refer to Figure.
Keep material removal of diameter D1 to minimum to allow subsequent repairs.
But old coating and damage must be removed fully.
Machine the diameter D1.
SUBTASK 72-50-21-325-053 Machine the Diameter D1 of the LP Turbine Case Rear Flange
NOTE
If the LP turbine case rear flange snap diameter was plasma spray repaired before, remove the old coating fully.Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.
Aqueous degrease.
SUBTASK 72-50-21-110-064 Clean the LP Turbine Case
Make sure that all adjacent surfaces are fully protected.
Use the IAE 3M14317 Base plate 1 off, IAE 3M14319 Masking fixture 1 off, IAE 3M14320 Masking fixture 1 off.
Refer to Figure.
Mask the areas A3.
Use dry blast cabinet, CoMat 05-046 ALUMINUM OXIDE GRIT.
The surface texture must be 120 to 200 microinch RMS (3.0 to 5.0 micrometer Ra).
Blasting in area A2 and in area A4 is permitted, Figure.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.
Grit blast the area A1.
SUBTASK 72-50-21-340-054 Prepare the Surfaces for the Plasma Spray Procedures
Overspray in area A2 and area A4 is permitted, if it was blasted before, refer to Figure.
Make sure that there is sufficient material to do last machining.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.
Use CoMat 03-089 METAL SPRAYING POWDER Ni/Al (95/5) or CoMat 03-090 METAL SPRAYING POWDER Ni/Al (95/5) and plasma spray equipment.
Plasma spray the area A1.
SUBTASK 72-50-21-340-055 Plasma Spray the Prepared Surfaces
Remove the IAE 3M14319 Masking fixture 1 off, IAE 3M14320 Masking fixture 1 off and all the tape.
Remove the masking.
SUBTASK 72-50-21-340-056 Remove the Protection from the Masked Areas
Use the IAE 3M14318 Turning fixture 1 off and vertical turning lathe.
For dimensions refer to Figure.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.
Machine the coated areas and the chamfer.
SUBTASK 72-50-21-325-054 Machine the Coated Areas
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.
Aqueous degrease.
SUBTASK 72-50-21-110-066 Clean the LP Turbine Case
For actual dimensions refer to Figure.
Use dial caliper, micrometer, roughness microtester and radius gage set.
Examine the repaired areas dimensionally.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501 and SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501-002 for acceptance standards.
Use illuminated magnifier.
Examine the coating.
SUBTASK 72-50-21-220-082 Do the Post Repair Inspection
Refer to TASK 70-09-00-400-501.
Vibropeen VRS4011 and applicable beehive symbol adjacent to the part number.
SUBTASK 72-50-21-380-052 Make a Mark to Identify the Repair
