Refer to Figure. If a hand held grinder is used, be careful that the component does not become to hot.
Do not remove basic material.
The machined surface must be smooth and flat.
Machine off the damaged strip seal.
SUBTASK 72-50-23-326-052 Remove the Damaged Strip Seal
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-01-200-502.
Vapour degrease.
SUBTASK 72-50-23-110-081 Clean the Stage 5 Shroud Seal Segment
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501 No cracks are permitted.
Do the test for cracks locally.
SUBTASK 72-50-23-230-073 Examine the Local Surfaces for Cracks
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-01-200-502.
Vapour degrease.
SUBTASK 72-50-23-110-082 Clean the Stage 5 Shroud Seal Segment
Clamp the strip seal to prevent movement. Use the IAE 3M14272 Clamping fixture 1 off.
Refer to Figure and TASK 70-31-13-310-501.
Use a spot welding equipment.
an inert gas welding system and CoMat 03-197 WELDING FILLER WIRE to weld in the strip seal.
Make sure that the honeycomb brazing is not damaged.
Tungsten inert gas and resistance weld the strip seal in position.

Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-10-310-501 and SPM TASK 70-31-13-310-501 for acceptance standards.
Visually examine the weld quality.
