Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-24-325-082 Machine the Rear Face

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. NOTE

        If necessary machine diameter D1.

        Machine the surface.

      2. Remove old coating and damage fully.

        Keep material removal to the minimum.

        Use turning lathe or grinding machine.

        NOTE

        If the old coating and damage can not be removed fully with this repair, refer to VRS4531 TASK 72-50-24-300-057 (TASK 72-50-24, REPAIR 057).
    1. SUBTASK 72-50-24-220-152 Examine Machined Surface

      1. Examine dimensionally.

      2. Refer to Figure.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-24-230-089 Examine the Machined Surface for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        Use medium sensitivity level.

        Cracks are not permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-24-110-124 Clean the Support Ring Assembly

      1. Aqueous degrease.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-34-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-24-340-084 Prepare the Surfaces for the Plasma Spray Procedure

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Mask the areas A3.

      2. Make sure that the surfaces have full protection.

      1. Grit blast the area A1.

      2. Surface texture must be 120 to 200 microinch RMS (3.0 to 5.0 micrometer Ra).

        Blasting in areas A2 is permitted.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

      1. Change the masking if necessary.

      2. Replace the damaged masking.

        Do not touch or bring unwanted material on the blasted area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-24-340-088 Plasma Spray the Prepared Surfaces

      1. Plasma spray the area A1.

      2. Coating in areas A2 is permitted if it was blasted before and may be incomplete, refer to Figure and the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

        In area A1 coating thickness must be 0.006 to 0.010 in. (0.15 to 0.25 mm).

      1. Examine the coating.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501-002 for acceptance standards.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-24-340-089 Remove the Protection from the Masked Areas

      1. Remove the masking.

      2. Remove all the tape.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-24-325-083 Machine the Coated Area

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Grind the coated area if necessary.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

        Use a grinding machine.
