Keep material removal to the minimum.
Use turning lathe or grinding machine.
NOTE
If the old coating and damage can not be removed fully with this repair, refer to VRS4531 TASK 72-50-24-300-057 (TASK 72-50-24, REPAIR 057).

Aqueous degrease.

Surface texture must be 120 to 200 microinch RMS (3.0 to 5.0 micrometer Ra).
Blasting in areas A2 is permitted.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.
Grit blast the area A1.
SUBTASK 72-50-24-340-084 Prepare the Surfaces for the Plasma Spray Procedure
Coating in areas A2 is permitted if it was blasted before and may be incomplete, refer to Figure and the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.
Use CoMat 03-066 METAL SPRAYING POWDER, 75 CHROMIUM CARBIDE/25 (80 NICKEL - 20 CHROMIUM ALLOY), FINE.
In area A1 coating thickness must be 0.006 to 0.010 in. (0.15 to 0.25 mm).
Plasma spray the area A1.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501-002 for acceptance standards.
Examine the coating.
