    1. SUBTASK 72-50-31-350-056 Blend Repair of the Stage 5 Turbine Disk

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, and Figure.

      NOTE

      Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501 for blending surface damage.
      For local blending use a length to depth ratio of 100 to 1 minimum, refer to Figure.
      If there is a number of damage marks together blend the whole area to the specified depth. Unless given differently, there is no limit for the number of blends.
      For direction of blend repair, where specified, refer to Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, and Figure.
      1. Blend repair in area A1.

      2. No blends permitted.

      1. Blend repair in area A2.

      2. Maximum permitted blend depth is 0.006 in. (0.15 mm), if not specified differently in other areas.

      1. Blend repair in area A3 (tiebolt holes).

      2. Maximum permitted diameter of the holes is 0.2618 in. (6.65 mm).

        Round bottom dents to a maximum depth of 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) are permitted in the lead-in radii without blendings, if any raised material is removed.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-19-350-501.

      1. Blend repair in area A3.1 (slots).

      2. Damage not more than 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) maximum depth to be blended to a 0.003 in. (0.08 mm) maximum depth.

        Blend to sufficient depth to remove damage plus an additional 0.001 in. (0.03 mm).

        Round bottom dents to a maximum depth of 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) are permitted in the lead-in radii without blendings, if any raised material is removed.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-19-350-501.

      1. Blend repair in area A3.2 (stress relief holes).

      2. Maximum permitted diameter of the holes is 0.2402 in. (6.10 mm).

        Round bottom dents to a maximum depth of 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) are permitted in the lead-in radii without blendings, if any raised material is removed.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-19-350-501.

      1. Blend repair in area A4.

      2. Maximum permitted blend depth is 0.010 in. (0.25 mm).

        To permit measure of disk growth, four opposite disk lobes spaced approximately 90 degrees apart must stay unblended.

        Use a length to depth ratio of 15 to 1 minimum.

      1. Blend repair in area A5.

      2. Maximum permitted blend depth is 0.035 in. (0.89 mm).

        Use a length to depth ratio of 15 to 1 minimum.

      1. Blend repair in area A6.

      2. Maximum permitted blend depth is 0.006 in. (0.15 mm).

        Use a length to depth ratio of 30 to 1 minimum to put back firtree contour.

      1. Blend repair in area A6.1.

      2. Round corners to maximum radius contour.

      1. Blend repair in area A7 (without areas A6.1 and A10).

      2. Maximum permitted blend depth is 0.006 in. (0.15 mm).

        Use a length to depth ratio of 15 to 1 minimum.

      1. Blend repair in area A8 (without areas A8.1, A8.2, and A8.3).

      2. Maximum permitted local blend depth is 0.004 in. (0.10 mm).

        For blend areas 0.0625 sqin. (40.3 sqmm) or more damage not more than 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) maximum depth to be blended to a 0.003 in. (0.08 mm) maximum depth.

        Blend to sufficient depth to remove damage plus an additional 0.001 in. (0.03 mm).

        Use a length to depth ratio of 50 to 1 minimum.

      1. Blend repair in area A8.1.

      2. Damage not more than 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) maximum depth to be blended to a 0.003 in. (0.08 mm) maximum depth.

        Blend to sufficient depth to remove damage plus an additional 0.001 in. (0.03 mm).

        The total area of blend repair must not be more than 30 percent of the whole area A8.1.

        Use a length to depth ratio of 30 to 1 minimum.

      1. Blend repair in area A8.2.

      2. Damage not more than 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) maximum depth to be blended to a 0.003 in. (0.08 mm) maximum depth.

        Blend to sufficient depth to remove damage plus an additional 0.001 in. (0.03 mm).

        The total area of blend repair must not be more than 30 percent of the whole area A8.2.

        Use a length to depth ratio of 50 to 1 minimum.

      1. Blend repair in area A8.3.

      2. Damage not more than 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) maximum depth to be blended to a 0.003 in. (0.08 mm) maximum depth.

        Blend to sufficient depth to remove damage plus an additional 0.001 in. (0.03 mm).

        The total area of blend repair must not be more than 50 percent of the whole area A8.3.

        Use a length to depth ratio of 30 to 1 minimum.

      1. Blend repair in area A9.

      2. Damage not more than 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) maximum depth to be blended to a 0.003 in. (0.08 mm) maximum depth.

        Blend to sufficient depth to remove damage plus an additional 0.001 in. (0.03 mm).

        After blend repair, locally etch blended areas refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-39-300-503.

        No more than 25 blends are permitted.

        If more than 25 blends are necessary do the skim machining, refer to Repair VRS 4544 TASK 72-50-31-300-040 (REPAIR-040).

      1. Blend repair in area A10.

      2. Round corners to maximum radius contour.

      1. Blend repair in area A11.

      2. Maximum permitted blend depth is 0.006 in (0.15 mm).

        No more than 25 blends are permitted.

        If more than 25 blends are necessary do the skim machining, refer to Repair VRS 4544 TASK 72-50-31-300-040 (REPAIR-040).

      1. Polish etched areas in area A9.

      2. Remove all signs of etch, before shotpeening.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-31-220-111 Do the Post Repair Inspection

      1. Examine the surface finish.

      2. The surface finish of all repairs must be 32 microinch RMS (0.8 micrometer Ra).
