Touch-up coat the stage 3 turbine blade.
SUBTASK 72-50-32-380-059 Touch-Up Coat the Stage 3 Turbine Blade after the Blend Repair
NOTE
This repair is only permitted in connection with repair instruction VRS4203, refer to TASK 72-50-32-300-025 (REPAIR-025).If coating is badly damaged, then refer to VRS4299, TASK 72-50-32-300-048 (REPAIR-048) or to VRS4300, TASK 72-50-32-300-049 (REPAIR-049).Touch-up is only permitted in area A3, refer to Figure.Record the part number, the blade length dimension, the heat code and the blade life figure if these are marked on the blade root.Optional standard diffusion heat treatment of 1950 to 2000 deg F (1066 to 1094 deg C) for 4 hours can be used. This diffusion heat treatment gives slightly more corrosion protection. Place the blades in an oven for 8 hours at 1652 deg F (900 deg C) for precipitation heat treatment before shotpeening.Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-14-380-501.
Do heat treatment for 2 hours at 1575 to 1625 deg F (857 to 885 deg C).
Use gas furnace or the vacuum furnace.
Do heat treatment on the stage 3 turbine blade to diffuse the coating.
SUBTASK 72-50-32-370-057 Do the Diffusion Heat Treatment of the Coated Stage 3 Turbine Blade
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-04-300-503 and Figure.
Prepare the stage 3 turbine blade for shot peening.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-04-300-503.
Use CoMat 05-030 CAST STEEL SHOT DELETED to an intensity of 6A.
Shot peen area A1.
SUBTASK 72-50-32-350-081 Shot Peen the Area A1 of the Turbine Blade
NOTE
Shot peening is permitted in area A2 but must not be complete.Replace marking if one of these has become unreadable.
Use the roll stamp method.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.
Examine the markings for turbine blade part number, heat code and blade length.
Replace marking if this has become unreadable.
Use the vibropeen method.

Examine the markings for turbine blade part life.
