General

This TASK gives the procedure of the gearbox breather outlet duct (01- 010).

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC.

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure are in the SPM.

All the parts must be cleaned before they are examined, refer to Cleaning-000 TASK 72-61-49-100-100.

All parts must be visually examined for damage, corrosion or wear. Defects which are not identified in the procedure must be referred to IAE.

The policy which is necessary for inspection is given in SPM TASK 70-20-01-220-501.

The procedure for those parts which must have a crack test is given in Step Do the test before the part is visually examined. The limits for cracks are given in the SUBTASK for each part.

Before the part is discarded, make sure there are no repairs available. Refer to the instructions in the repair before a discarded part is used again or oversize parts are installed. Parts which should be discarded can be held although no repair is available. The repair of a discarded part could be shown to be necessary at a later date.

    1. SUBTASK 72-61-49-230-002 Examine the Gearbox Breather Outlet Duct (01-010) for Cracks

    2. Fluorescent penetrant examine for cracks. Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

      1. Cracked.

        1. Not more than one crack on any bend or two cracks per duct and not less than 10.0 in. (254.0 mm) from other damage.

          1. Cracks in locations R and S, not more than 6.00 in. (152.4 mm) long.
