Refer to SPM TASK 70-42-06-400-501, SUBTASK 70-42-06-400-004.
Make sure the new bearing is correctly located.
Visually examine the bracket assemblies.
Use a 0.127 mm (0.005 in.) feeler gauge.
A properly swaged bearing in an optimally prepared housing will not accept the feeler gauge.
No more than 40 percent of the circumference may accept the feeler gauge.
The bearing race face is to be within 0.254 mm. (0.010 in.)
Inspect circumference of the gap in the swaged lip to housing chamfer.
SUBTASK 75-24-51-220-099 Do a Visual And Dimensional Inspection
Select one bearing to be checked.
The load is to be applied to the bearing housing and is to be applied along the axis of the sperical bearing through the hole.
NOTE
No load to be passed on to the ball of the bearing. The bearing must not move during the test.
Apply a load of 600 lbf to each side of the staked bearing.
SUBTASK 75-24-51-350-008 Do a Bearing Pull Out Check
Use string or a suitable equivalent.
