TASK 71-00-02-000-001-A00 (A1-PPBU) - Remove The Core Fire Detectors, Removal-001

General

Fig./item numbers in parenthesis agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig./item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig./item number.

Apply the approved CoMat 10-058 PENETRATING OIL before the removal of threaded parts. Let the parts soak before removal.

Discard all the rubber seal rings, split cotter pins, keywashers and gaskets removed in the procedure.

Remove and discard the lockwire before the tube or connector is disconnected.

All the electrical harnesses and the cables removed in this procedure must have their maintenance completed, as given in the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM-EHC-V2500-1IA).

All the tubes, the hoses and the ducts removed in this procedure must have their maintenance completed, as given in the Component Maintenance manual (CMM-THD-V2500-1IA).

During the removal procedure make sure that the harnesses are held temporarily along their different lengths. This is to prevent too much strain on the harnesses, cables and electrical connectors.

During the removal procedure put the special plastic caps on the electrical connectors. This is to give protection from unwanted fluids or materials.

During the removal procedure put the transportation covers/blanks on all openings. This is to give protection from unwanted fluids or materials.

During the electrical harness removal remove the lacing tape that attaches the different harnesses together.

NOTE

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 71-00-02-020-015 Remove the Core Cowl Fire Detector from the Air Cooled Air Cooler (ACAC) Exhaust Duct

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. At clip position 5503, remove the nut FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-131), washer FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-129), bolt FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-125) and the clip FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-127) from the ACAC exhaust duct AIR-ACAC EXHAUST DUCT (75-22-48, 01-010).

    3. At clip position 5502, remove the nut FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-137), washer FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-135), bolt FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-132) and the clip FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-133) from the ACAC exhaust duct AIR-ACAC EXHAUST DUCT (75-22-48, 01-010).

    4. At clip position 5501, remove the nut FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-145), washer FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-143), bolt FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-140) and the clip FIRE PROTECTION-CORE ZONE FIRE DETECTOR (26-12-17, 01-141) from the ACAC exhaust duct AIR-ACAC EXHAUST DUCT (75-22-48, 01-010).

    2. SUBTASK 71-00-02-020-016-A00 Remove the Core Zone Fire Detector (Pre SBN 71-0145 and Pre SBE 79-0087)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors 4001WD1-A and 4001WD2-A.

    3. Remove the nut, the bolt and the washer from the clip positions 5720 and 5721.

    4. Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers and the clips from the clip positions 5500 and 5722.

    5. Pre SBE 75-0049: Remove the nut, the bolt, the spacer, the washer and the clip from the clip position 5723.

    6. SBE 75-0049: Remove the nut, the bolt, the two spacers and the two clips at the clip position 5723.

    7. NOTE

      The core zone fire detector removed in this procedure must have its maintenance completed as given in the Systron Donner Component Maintenance Manual (26-12-17).

      Remove the core zone fire detector.

    3. SUBTASK 71-00-02-020-016-B00 Remove the Core Zone Fire Detector (SBN 71-0145, Pre SBN 71-0272 and Pre SBE 79-0087)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors 4001WD1-A and 4001WD2-A.

    3. Remove the bolts, the spacers, the washers, the nuts and the bracket from clip positions 5928 and 5929.

    4. Remove the nut, the bolt, the washer and the clip from the clip position 5500.

    5. Pre SBE 75-0049: Remove the nut, the bolt, the spacer, the washer and the clip from the clip position 5723.

    6. SBE 75-0049: Remove the nut, the bolt, the two spacers and the two clips at the clip position 5723.

    7. NOTE

      The core zone fire detector removed in this procedure must have its maintenance completed as given in the Systron Donner Component Maintenance Manual (26-12-17).

      Remove the core zone fire detector.

    4. SUBTASK 71-00-02-020-016-C00 Remove the Core Zone Fire Detector (SBN 71-0272 and SBE 79-0087)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors 4001WD1-A and 4001WD2-A.

    3. Remove the bolts, the washers and the nuts from the clip positions 6120 and 6126.

    4. Remove the nut, the bolt, the washer and the clip from the clip position 5500.

    5. Remove the nut, the bolt, the washer and the clip from the clip position 6115.

    6. NOTE

      The core zone fire detector removed in this procedure must have its maintenance completed as given in the Systron Donner Component Maintenance Manual (26-12-17).

      Remove the core zone fire detector.

    5. SUBTASK 71-00-02-020-017-A00 Remove the Core Overheat Detector (Pre SBN 70-0151)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      2. Remove the core overheat detector NACELLE TEMPERATURE SENSOR (75-41-15, 01-100).

      1. Disconnect the electrical connector 4008KS-A.

      2. Pre SBE 79-0087: Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers, the spacers and the clips from the clip positions 5221 and 5223.

      3. SBE 79-0087: Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers, the spacers and the clips from the clip positions 6117 and 6125.

      4. NOTE

        The core fire detector must have its maintenance completed, as given in the B.F. Goodrich Component Maintenance Manual (26-12-19).

        Remove the four nuts and bolts that attach the core overheat detector to the bracket NACELLE TEMPERATURE SENSOR (75-41-15, 05-010).

    6. SUBTASK 71-00-02-020-017-B00 Remove the Core Overheat Detector (SBN 70-0151)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      2. Remove the core overheat detector NACELLE TEMPERATURE SENSOR (75-41-15, 01-100),

      1. Disconnect the electrical connector 4008KS-A.

      2. Pre SBE 79-0087: Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers, the spacers and the clips from the clip positions 5221 and 5223.

      3. SBE 79-0087: Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers, the spacers and the clips from the clip positions 6117 and 6125.

      4. NOTE

        The core fire detector must have its maintenance completed, as given in the B.F. Goodrich Component Maintenance Manual (26-12-19).

        Remove the four nuts and bolts that attach the core overheat detector to the bracket NACELLE TEMPERATURE SENSOR (75-41-15, 05-010).
