TASK 72-00-50-050-002-B00 LPT Module Components - Remove The EGT Harness And Junction Box Assembly (4012KS-5), Removal-011

General

This TASK gives the procedure to remove the EGT harness and junction box assembly from the LP system module.

Remove and discard the lockwire before parts are disconnected or removed.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants, refer to the IPC.

Procedure

1. Refer to Figure.
2. Remove the two alumel (larger) nuts and washers and the two chromel (smaller) nuts and washers which attach the harness lugs to the thermocouple terminals. Refer to Figure.
3. Remove the harness lugs from the thermocouple terminals.
4. Install the washers and nuts back on the thermocouple terminals.
5. Do these steps at the four thermocouple locations.

2. Remove the bolts and nuts which attach the harness clamps to the brackets (five positions on each the left and right sides) on the Flange P. Refer to Figure.
3. Remove the two bolts which attach the harness clamps to the bracket on the bottom of the exhaust case boss.
4. Remove the bolts and nuts which attach the harness clamps to the clamps on the P4.9 manifold at one position on the left and right sides.

2. Remove the nuts which attach the harness clamps to the brackets at six positions on the Flange T (refer to Figure.

2. Remove the four screws which attach the cover to the junction box and remove the cover (refer to Figure.
3. Remove the four nuts which attach the engine harness to the junction box terminals.
4. Remove the harness lugs from the junction box terminals.
5. Pre SBE 77-0009 : Install the nuts back on to the junction box terminals.
6. CAUTION
  ONCE A NEW STYLE NUT IS INSTALLED ON TO THE MATING STUD YOU MUST NOT INSTALL AN OLD NUT ON THAT STUD.
  SBE 77-0009 : Install the self locking nuts back on to the junction box terminals.

2. Remove the four bolts and nuts which attach the junction box to the bracket (refer to Figure.
3. Remove the EGT harness and junction box assembly from the engine.
1. Post SBE 77-0015: Removal of the EGT Harness Assembly (4012KS-5).
2. Refer to Figure.
3. Remove the two alumel (larger) nuts EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-240), the two alumel washers EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-245), the two chromel (smaller) nuts EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-250) and the two chromel washers EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-255) from the thermocouple terminals at four positions.
4. Remove the EGT harness lugs from the thermocouple terminals.
5. Install all the alumel and chromel washers and nuts back on the thermocouple terminals at four positions.

2. 1. At View B, remove the bolt EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-190) and the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-095).
  2. At View C, remove the bolt EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-185) and the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-090).
  3. At View D, remove the bolt EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-180) and the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-085).
  4. At View E, remove the bolt EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-175) and the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-080).
  5. At View G, remove the bolt EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-290) and the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-288).
3. 1. At View S, remove the bolt EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-150) and the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-055).
  2. At View R, remove the bolt EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-155) and the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-060).
  3. At View Q, remove the bolt EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-160) and the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-065).
  4. At View P, remove the bolt EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-165) and the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-070).
  5. At View K, remove the bolt EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-170) and the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-075).

2. 1. At View N, remove the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-195).
  2. At View M, remove the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-200).
  3. At View L, remove the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-205).
  4. At View J, remove the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-210).
  5. At View I, remove the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-215).
  6. At View H, remove the nut EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-220).

2. 1. At View F, remove the bolt engine fuel and control-P4.9 sensor and manifold (73-22-51, 01-090) and the nut engine fuel and control-P4.9 sensor and manifold (73-22-51, 01-080). Refer to Figure.
  2. At View O, remove the bolt engine fuel and control-P4.9 sensor and manifold (73-22-51, 01-220) and the nut engine fuel and control-P4.9 sensor and manifold (73-22-51, 01-210). Refer to Figure.

2. Remove and retain the two bolts which attach the EGT harness EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-010) to the Wiring Harness Bracket Assembly LP Turbine (LPT) And Turbine Exhaust Case (TEC) Unit (72-50-00, 01-640) (water shield).
3. Remove the EGT harness assembly from the engine.
1. Refer to Figure and Figure.
2. Remove and retain the two bolts LP Turbine (LPT) and Turbine Exhaust Case (TEC) unit LP Turbine (LPT) And Turbine Exhaust Case (TEC) Unit (72-50-00, 01-100) and two nuts EGT harness and junction box EGT Harness And Junction Box (77-21-43, 01-020) that attach the EGT Wiring Harness Bracket Assembly (Water Shield) LP Turbine (LPT) And Turbine Exhaust Case (TEC) Unit (72-50-00, 01-640) to the engine at the P-flange holes 57 and 58.
3. Discard the water shield and make it unusable.

  NOTE
  Bolts, nuts and all clips removed during the removal will be required for the installation.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector 4007VC-A from the electrical receptacle 4007VC. Refer to Figure and Figure.
  NOTE
  When electrical connections are disconnected special plastic caps must be installed.
3. Remove the four nuts exhaust gas temperature (EGT) harness Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Harness (71-52-45, 01-020) and the four screws exhaust gas temperature (EGT) Harness Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Harness (71-52-45, 01-022) the electrical receptacle 4007VC to the bracket engine air off-take air ducts Engine Air Off-Take Air Ducts (75-00-49, 01-680).
4. Remove the bolts, the washers, the integrated clamps, and the nuts at four clip positions 6086, 6085, 5553, 5552. Refer to Figure and Figure.
5. Remove the bolts, the washers, the clamps, and the nuts at 10 clip positions 5551, 5211, 5529, 5550, 5527, 5549, 6052, 6051, 6053, 6054. Refer to Figure and Figure.
6. Remove the bolts, the washers, the integrated clamps, and the nuts at three clip positions 5523, 6055, 5734. Refer to Figure and Figure.

2. Loosen bolt on retaining clamp to allow clamp to move along tube.
3. Slide periseal connector along ACC tube until sufficient gap is present to route new EGT harness (approximately 0.5 in. (12.7 mm)).
  NOTE
  Lubricate the lower end of connector tube with soap and water, if needed.
4. Lower the EGT harness through gap created and remove from engine.
