Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-090 Prepare the Lug of LPC Bleed Duct Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Prepare the lug.

        1. Use AMS-QQ-A-250/8 temper H32 or AMS 4016 patch material for sheet plate.

        2. Use 0.189 to 0.205 in. (4.80 to 5.20 mm) thickness.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-091 Clean the New Lug

      1. Clean the new lug.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503, degrease the replacement lug.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-092 Examine the New Lug for Cracks

      1. Fluorescent penetrant examine the new lug.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        2. If cracked reject the new lug and repeat operations 4, 5 and 6.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-093 Examine the New Lug

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Visually and dimensionally inspect the new lug.

      2. Reject if dimensional sizes are not achieved.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-094 Cut Off the Damaged Lug of LPC Bleed Duct Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Cut off the damaged lug from the LPC bleed duct assembly.

        1. Make sure the component is not damaged during the cutting operation.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-095 Clean the LPC Bleed Duct Assembly

      1. Clean the repair area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503, degrease the repair area of the assembly.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-096 Examine the LPC Bleed Duct Assembly

      1. Visually and dimensionally inspect the LPC Duct Assembly.

        1. Make sure the component is not damaged during the cutting operation.

        2. If damaged, reject the repair.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-110-061 Remove all the Debris from the Surface

      1. Remove all the oxides, hydrocarbon, grit and scale from the surface to be welded and adjacent area by local cleaning.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.

        2. Use CoMat 01-031 ACETONE (CH3)2CO and Comat 02-099 lint free cloth.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-310-001 Weld the Lug on the LPC Bleed Duct Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Weld the lug by tungsten inert gas (TIG) weld.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-02-310-501-001.

        2. Weld is a Group 2 weld.

        3. Use a tungsten inert gas (TIG) system.

        4. Refer to Figure.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-310-002 Local Heat Treat the LPC Bleed Duct Assembly

      1. Local heat treat the LPC bleed duct assembly.

        1. Stress relieve at 310 deg F (154 deg C) +/- 10 deg F (+/- 5.5 deg C) for 6 hours.

        2. Use thermal blankets and portable heater.

        3. Use thermocouples to make sure the temperature is not exceeded.

        4. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-02-310-501-001.

    2. Air cool the part to room temperature.

      1. Local heat treat the LPC bleed duct assembly.

        1. Stress relieve at 310 deg F (154 deg C) +/- 10 deg F (+/- 5.5 deg C) for 3 hours.

        2. Use thermal blankets and portable heater.

        3. Use thermocouples to make sure the temperature is not exceeded.

        4. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-02-310-501-001.

    3. Air cool the part to room temperature.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-110-062 Chemically Clean the Repaired Area

      1. Chemically clean the repaired area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-220-121 Examine the Weld Repair Area

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Visually and dimensionally examine the welded lug.

        1. Make sure the lug is correctly positioned.

        2. Make sure there is no distortion to the assembly.

        3. If distorted or if the lug is incorrectly positioned - reject the repair.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-097 Examine the Repaired Area for Cracks

      1. Visually examine the repaired area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-02-310-501-001.

      1. Fluorescent penetrant examine the repaired area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-110-063 Radiographically Examine the Repaired Area

      1. Radiographically examine the repaired area.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-02-310-501-001.

        2. Inspect as per group 2 weld requirements.

        3. Use radiographic equipment.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-098 Machine the Repaired Area

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.

    3. Machine the repaired area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-099 Blend and Polish the Repair Area

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    3. Blend and polish the repair area.

    4. Blend and polish to restore the original lug surface profile.

      1. Clean the machined repair area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503, degrease the repair area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-100 Examine the Lug

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.

    3. Dimensional check the repaired area.

      1. Fluorescent penetrant examine the repaired area.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        2. No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-380-059 Surface Treat the Repaired Area

      1. Chemically clean the required area.

      1. Do a chemical touch-up to the repaired area with a brush.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-110-065 Install the Plate Nut, Except Location No. 1

      1. Install the Plate Nut.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-32-60-300-005 (VRS1337) and TASK 72-32-60-300-011 (VRS1914).

      1. Chemically clean the required area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-101 Identify the Repair

      1. Make a mark VRS1514 adjacent to the part number.

      1. Chemically clean the required area.

      1. Do a chemical touch-up to the repaired area with a brush.
