Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-10-330-001 Remove the Damage or Wear and all the Coat from the Rear Flange Inner Face

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Remove the damage or wear and all the coat from the rear flange inner face by one or more of the methods that follow.

        1. Remove all the coat by chemical stripping.

        2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-33-80-300-503.

        1. Remove all the coat by chemical stripping.

        2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-33-59-300-503.

        1. Remove all the coat by water jet stripping process.

        2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-15-01-160-501.

      2. Machine to remove the damage or wear and all the coat. Remove the minimum amount of parent material necessary to do the repair.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-10-350-065 Prepare the Part for Coating

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Clean the aprt.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

      1. Do a dimensional inspection of the repair area.

      2. Make sure that all of the coating is removed.

      1. Do a fluorescent penetrant inspection of the part.

      1. Grit blast the rear flange, inner face.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-18-380-501.

    3. Mask areas which are not to be coated.

    4. Grit blast out of repair area shown is not permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-10-340-059 Apply Plasma Coating on the Rear Flange Inner Face

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Plasma coat the repair area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

      3. Coat to a sufficient thickness to permit finish machining.

      4. Coat out of repair area shown is not permitted. Use masks.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-10-320-064 Machine the Repaired Area

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Finish machine the repaired area.

      2. Final coating thickness, after finish machining, must be 0.008 to 0.010 in. (0.20 to 0.25 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-10-160-001 Clean the Part

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Clean the part.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

    3. Do a dimensional inspection of the part.

      1. Examine the repaired area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-220-001.

        If VRS3766 is marked on the part do not mark the part again.

        Mark VRS3766 on the repaired part near the part number.

      2. Use the vibration peen method.
