General

This TASK gives the procedure to install the fuel distribution valve filter on the HP system module.

For standard torque data procedures, refer to TASK 70-41-00-400-501 and TASK 70-41-02-400-501.

For installation of preformed packing, refer to TASK 70-44-01-400-501.

For installation of the reuse of self-locking fasteners, refer to TASK 70-42-01-400-501.

For installation of lockwire, refer to TASK 70-42-05-400-501.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants, refer to the IPC.

Special torque data is identified with the symbol * after the torque value.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-450-055 Install the Fuel Distribution Valve Filter

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Lubricate ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL DISTRIBUTION VALVE (73-13-43, 01-035) packing 1 off with CoMat 10-066 LUBRICATING OIL and install it on the filter.

    3. Install the filter into the fuel distribution valve housing.

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-40-450-056 Install the Fuel Distribution Valve Filter Cover

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. CAUTION

      THE FILTER COVER PACKING IS MADE FROM A SPECIAL MATERIAL THAT PREVENTS OVER-HEATING. DO NOT USE AN ALTERNATE SEAL.

      Lubricate a ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL DISTRIBUTION VALVE (73-13-43, 01-030) packing 1 off with CoMat 10-066 LUBRICATING OIL and install it on the filter cover.

    3. Align the eight offset bolt holes.

    4. Lubricate the threads of the eight bolts ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL DISTRIBUTION VALVE (73-13-43, 01-022) with CoMat 10-067 LUBRICANT.

    5. Install the bolts and eight washers ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL DISTRIBUTION VALVE (73-13-43, 01-024) that attach the filter cover to the fuel distribution valve.

    6. Torque the bolts to 70 to 75 lbf.in (7.909 to 8.474 Nm).

    3. SUBTASK 72-00-40-450-057 Install the Fuel Tube

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the protective covers from the fuel inlet tube Control Fuel Tubes (73-11-49, 09-100).

    3. Lubricate a Control Fuel Tubes (73-11-49, 09-116) seal ring with CoMat 10-066 LUBRICATING OIL and install it on the fuel inlet tube Control Fuel Tubes (73-11-49, 09-100).

    4. Install the three bolts Control Fuel Tubes (73-11-49, 09-114) that attach the fuel inlet tube to the filter cover.

    5. Torque the bolts to 85 to 105 lbf.in (10.00 to 12.00 Nm) and safety with CoMat 02-141 LOCKWIRE.

    6. Lightly lubricate Control Fuel Tubes (73-11-49, 08-090) seal ring with CoMat 10-060 LIQUID PARAFFIN or CoMat 10-038 PETROLEUM JELLY.

    7. Install the seal ring on the connector at the bifurcation panel and connect the fuel inlet tube nut Control Fuel Tubes (73-11-49, 09-100).

    8. Torque the tube nut to 1150* to 1250* lbf.in (130 to 141 Nm) and safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.

    4. SUBTASK 72-00-40-770-051 Test the Fuel Distribution Valve and the Fuel Inlet Tube Connections.

    1. Do a Test on the Fuel Distribution Valve and the Fuel Inlet Tube Connections by the Procedure given in TASK 71-00-00-700-052-A00 TASK 71-00-00-700-052.
