General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the EIPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the EIPC.

Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-039 ENGINE OIL, unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.

For the torque tightening procedures refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501 and the SPM TASK 70-41-01-400-501.

For the data to identify, lubricate and install packings refer to the SPM TASK 70-44-00-400-501.

For the data on electrical connectors refer to the SPM TASK 70-43-00-400-501 and the SPM TASK 70-43-01-400-501.

For lockwire data and procedures refer to the SPM TASK 70-42-05-400-501.

Safety Requirements

WARNING

DO NOT GET ENGINE OIL ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.

CAUTION

DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-60-110-061 Clean the Parts

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. WARNING

      DO NOT GET CLEANING FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, GOGGLES AND A MASK. USE THE FLUID IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. IF YOU GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES, FLUSH IT AWAY WITH WATER. GET MEDICAL AID IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.

      Use the CoMat 02-099 LINT-FREE CLOTH and the CoMat 01-002 SOLVENT, DELETED. to clean the interfaces of the components which follow.

      the oil tank OIL-OIL TANK (79-11-41, 01-860).

      the transmitter OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-010).

      the bolts OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-020).

      the electrical connector.

    4. Wipe the component with a clean piece of lint free cloth before the fluid dries.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-60-440-051 Install the Transmitter

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. CAUTION

      DO NOT REMOVE THE HEAT SHRINK FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER. THE HEAT SHRINK IS REQUIRED FOR THE TRANSMITTER TO FUNCTION CORRECTLY.

      Remove the blanking caps from the components.

    4. Install a new OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-030) seal-ring 1 off onto the oil quantity transmitter OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-010).

    5. Pre SBE 17-0017: Carefully put the oil quantity transmitter OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-010) into the oil tank OIL-OIL TANK (79-11-41, 01-860), in the position noted on removal.

      SBE 79-0017: Carefully put the seal-ring into the oil tank OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-032), the spacer OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-025) and the oil quantity transmitter OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-010) in to the oil tank OIL-OIL TANK (79-11-41, 01-860), in the position noted on removal.

    6. Attach the oil quantity OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-010) to the oil tank OIL-OIL TANK (79-11-41, 01-860) with the bolts OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-020). Torque the bolts OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-020) to 100 lbfin (11.3 Nm).

    7. Connect the electrical connector to the transmitter OIL-OIL QUANTITY TRANSMITTER (79-31-15, 01-010).

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-60-210-063 Visually Inspect the Electrical Backshells and Cable Clamps

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Make sure that all the applicable connectors, backshells and cable clamps are secure.

    4. Make sure that all the applicable backshells and cable clamps are safetied with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-42-05-400-501.
