General

This TASK gives the procedure to install the Pressure oil filter element.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha-variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-039 ENGINE OIL, unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.

For the torque tightening procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501 and TASK 70-41-01-400-501.

Special torque data is identified with the symbol * after the torque value.

After assembly apply CoMat 07-038 AIR DRYING ENAMEL to any damaged surface protection, joint flanges and attach parts. Use the correct color of the air drying enamel. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-21-380-501.

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-60-450-081 Remove the Covers

    1. Remove all the covers, caps or plugs from all the openings.

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-60-450-082 Install the Packing (01-330)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Lubricate the new OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-330) packing 1 off with clean CoMat 10-039 ENGINE OIL.

    3. Install the packing on the oil filter cover assembly OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-300).

    3. SUBTASK 72-00-60-450-083 Install the Pressure Oil Filter Element (01-110) and the Filter Support (01-830)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install the pressure oil filter element OIL-PRESSURE OIL FILTER ELEMENT (79-21-44, 01-100) and the filter support OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-830) in to the oil pump casing OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-750).

    4. SUBTASK 72-00-60-450-084 Install the Oil Filter Cover Assembly (01-330)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install the oil filter cover assembly OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-330) to the oil pump casing OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-750).

    3. Install the six nuts OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-310) and six washers OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-320).

    4. Torque the nuts to 85 lbfin to 95 lbfin (9.6 Nm to 10.7 Nm).

    5. SUBTASK 72-00-60-450-085 (PRE SBE 79-0101) Install the Nut (01-240)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install the nut OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-240) to the oil filter cover assembly OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-300).

    3. Torque the nut to 53 * lbfin to 71 * lbfin (6 Nm to 8 Nm).

    4. Safety the nut with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.

    6. SUBTASK 72-00-60-450-085A (POST SBE 79-0101) Install the Packing (01-250A) and Plug (01-260A)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install the Packing OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-250A) and Plug OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-260A) to the oil filter cover assembly OIL-PRESSURE PUMP/FILTER HOUSING (79-21-41, 01-300).

    3. Torque the plug to 53 * lbfin to 71 * lbfin (6 Nm to 8 Nm).

    4. Safety the plug with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.

    7. SUBTASK 72-00-60-450-086 Fill the Oil System

    1. CAUTION

      DO NOT PUT OIL THAT HAS BEEN DRAINED FROM THE ENGINE BACK IN TO THE OIL SYSTEM.

      Fill the engine oil system as necessary with clean CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS.
