This Repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in 72-41-11 Inspection.
The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK/SUBTASK numbers are in the SPM.
This TASK gives the procedure to repair the self locking shank nut on the HP compressor stage 3-8 drum by replacement.

Safety Requirements

Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.
Use chemical cleaning equipment.
Chemically clean the area around the shank nuts.
SUBTASK 72-41-11-110-134 Chemically Clean the Area
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-11-300-501.
Make sure the drill is centered on the shank nut hole and will not touch the parent part.
Use a drilling machine with a 0.315 in. (8.00 mm) diameter drill.
Drill the flare until the nut is released.

Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.
Use chemical cleaning equipment.
Chemically clean the repair area.
SUBTASK 72-41-11-110-133 Chemically Clean the Repair Area
Use CoMat 06-022 FLUORESCENT PENETRANT (POST-EMULSIFIED ULTRA HIGH SENSITIVITY) fluorescent penetrant (post-emulsified ultra high sensitivity).
Use penetrant crack test equipment.
Cracks are not permitted.
Do a local penetrant crack test in the area of the repair.
SUBTASK 72-41-11-230-066 Do a Crack Test

CAUTION
THE TOOLING USED TO INSTALL THE NEW SHANK NUT OF SBE 72-0606 STANDARD MUST NOT BE USED TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE SHANK NUT OF PRE SBE 72-0606 STANDARD. THIS IS TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO SILVER CONTAMINATION ON THE TOOLING.Use nut self locking shank HPC Stage 3 - 8 Drum Disk And Wire Seals (72-41-11, 01-238) with anti-frettage plate HPC Stage 3 - 8 Drum Disk And Wire Seals (72-41-11, 01-240) as necessary.
Make sure the shank nut is set at the correct position.
Install the new nut and anti-frettage plate into the location hole.
Use IAE 3R18718 Tool bolt 1 off and IAE 3R18719 Swage bush 1 off.
Hold the nut and swage the flare.
