This Repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in the relevant Inspection/Check (72-41-21 Inspection/Check).

The TASK gives the procedure to repair the location dowel in the HP compressor front support cone assembly, by replacement.

TASKs identified by SPM TASK are in the Standard Practices and Processes Manual (SPM).

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-168 Remove a Loose or Damaged Dowel, Assembly A, Assembly B, Assembly C and Assembly D

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Remove a loose or damaged dowel.

      2. Use an air operated hand grinder.

      3. Grind off the rivet head and remove the rivet, the washer and the dowel.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-220-456 Examine the Dowel Location Hole, Assembly A, Assembly B, Assembly C and Assembly D

      1. Visually examine and measure the dimensions of the dowel location hole.

      2. The hole must not be oversize.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-200 Remove a Loose or Damaged Pin, Assembly E

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove a loose or damaged pin.

      1. Cold squeeze the rivet in place.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-201 Install the Pin, Assembly E

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Install the pin.

      2. Use AS44803 pin 1 off, 03-313.

      3. Use Locally Made Freeze Plug.

      1. Touch-up the damaged surface protection as necessary.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-21-380-501, SUBTASK 70-38-21-380-010.

      3. Use a paint brush.
