This Repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in TASK 72-41-21 Inspection.

This Repair replaces loose or damaged rivets and/or a damaged end fitting, on the HP Compressor Stage 7 Front Heatshield Assembly.

When loose or damaged rivet(s) are to be replaced do step 4 and step 4.

When a damaged end fitting is to be replaced do step 19 and setp 20.

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK/SUBTASK numbers are in the SPM.

      1. Chemically clean.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-41-21-100-000 (CLEANING-000).

      3. Use chemical cleaning equipment.

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.

      1. Apply the surface protection to the HP compressor stage 7 heatshield assembly.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-176-A00 Remove the Damaged End Fitting, Assembly A

      NOTE

      The SUBTASKS which follow must only be used to replace the damaged end fitting.
    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Release the damaged end fitting.

      2. Position the heatshield with damaged end fitting side up.

      3. Grind off the heads of the rivets.

      4. Use a portable grinding machine.

      1. Remove the rivets.

      2. Use standard workshop equipment.

    3. Discard the damaged end fitting.
