It is not permitted to repair grown snap diameters.

NOTE

For more equipment and materials necessary to do this repair, refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501, SPM TASK 70-11-34-300-503, SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501 and SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.
Equivalent equipment may be used.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-33-320-092 Machine the Diameter of the Stage 7 Turbine Airseal

      NOTE

      Remove the old coating fully, if the airseal diameter was plasma sprayed before.
      1. Machine the diameter D2 and chamfer.

      2. Refer to Figure.

        Keep material removal to a minimum.

        Remove the coating or damage fully.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-33-220-041 Examine the Machined Areas

      1. Examine dimensionally the machined surfaces.

      2. Refer to Figure.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-33-230-117 Examine the Machined Surface for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        Use ultra high sensitivity level.

        No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-33-110-081 Clean the Stage 7 Turbine Airseal

      1. Aqueous degrease the stage 7 turbine airseal.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-34-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-33-340-028 Prepare the Surfaces for the Plasma Spray Procedure

      1. Mask the areas A3.

      2. Make sure that the surfaces have full protection.

        Refer to Figure.

      1. Grit blast the areas A1.

      2. The surface texture must be 120 to 200 microinch RMS (3.0 to 5.0 micrometer Ra).

        Blasting in area A2 is permitted.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501 and Figure.

      1. Change the masking if necessary.

      2. Replace the damage masking.

        Do not touch or bring unwanted material on the blasted areas.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-33-340-029 Plasma Spray the Prepared Surfaces

      1. Plasma spray the area A1.

      2. Refer to Figure.

        Make sure that there is sufficient material to do last machining.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

        Coating in area A2 is permitted if it was blasted before and must be removed subsequently.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-33-340-030 Remove the Protection from the Masked Areas

      1. Remove the masking.

      2. Remove all the tape.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-33-320-093 Machine the Coated Area

      1. Machine the coated areas and chamfers.

      2. For dimensions refer to Figure.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

      1. Remove the coating from area A2.

      2. Machine to remove the coating.

        Refer to Figure and Figure.

        Too much coating must be finished smoothly.

      1. Aqueous degrease the stage 7 turbine airseal.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-34-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-33-220-042 Do the Post Repair Inspection

      1. Examine the machined areas dimensionally.

      2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Examine the coating.

      2. Accept the standards.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-33-380-070 Make a Mark to Identify the Repair

      1. Vibro-peen VRS4005 and applicable beehive symbol adjacent to the part number.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501 for mechanical or manual vibro-peening.

        Up to 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) maximum depth.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-33-350-115 Do the Post Repair

      1. Rebalance the stage 7 turbine airseal.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-50-33-300-038 VRS4057, (REPAIR-038).
