Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-01-300-503, SPM TASK 70-11-13-300-503, TASK 70-11-15-300-503, SPM TASK 70-11-16-300-503 or SPM TASK 70-11-33-300-503.
Clean the heatshield.
SUBTASK 72-58-01-110-057 Clean the No. 5 Bearing Heatshield
Cracks in the welds must be fully routed out.
Cracks in the sheet metal do not have to be routed out.
Refer to Figure. There is no maximum length or quantity of cracks.
Rout out cracks in the welds.
Clean the weld area with a Rotary austenitic stainless steel brush or Silicon carbide abrasive wheel.
Clean weld area. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-13-310-501.
Weld the cracks by the manual gas tungsten method.

Clean the weld area. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.

Weld the patch in position.

Do a fluorescent penetrant inspection (high sensitivity) of the repaired areas. No cracks allowed.
