Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-082 Remove the Damaged Seal from the LPC Bleed Duct Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove seal (but do not cause damage to the parent material) and remaining compound.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-083 Prepare the Test Pieces

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Prepare test pieces.

      2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-084 Remove Teflon Coating

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Remove the damage, if required.

      2. Machine area C until all damage in area C is removed.

        Dress area A except area C and/or area B until all damage is removed.

        Use hand held pneumatic grinder.

        Make sure the dimensions of the repaired area satisfy the dimensions given in Figure and Figure.

        If not, reject the LPC bleed duct assembly.

      1. Mask areas which are not to be applied with Teflon coating.

      2. Use CoMat 02-001 ADHESIVE TAPE (MASKING) adhesive tape (Masking), CoMat 02-006 ADHESIVE TAPE ALUMINIUM FOIL, CoMat 02-198 ADHESIVE TAPE (MASKING METAL SPRAY) adhesive tape (Masking metal spray) and/or mechanical.

      1. Dry abrasive blast.

      2. Use a dry blast system cabinet.

        Use an air pressure of 87.02 psi (0.6 MPa) at approximate distance of 7.874 in. (200 mm) and 70 to 90 degree impingement angle from air nozzle to component surface.

    3. Remove masking tape.

      1. Remove abrasive grit that remains by vacuuming.

      2. Use a vacuum cleaner.

      1. Wipe blasted surfaces.

      1. Dry.

      2. NOTE

        After cleaning, the component must not be touched by hand and must be covered by craft paper, to prevent contamination.

        Air dry for 10 minutes minimum.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-085 Restore Teflon Coating to LPC Bleed Duct Assembly and Test Pieces

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Mask areas which are not to be applied with Teflon coating.

      1. Spray first coat of Teflon on area A of LPC bleed duct assembly and test pieces.

      1. Dry.

      2. Air dry at room temperature for approximately 20 minutes.

      1. Cure.

      2. Use clean, dry air at 302 deg F (150 deg C) for approximately 20 minutes.

      1. Spray second coat of Teflon on area A of LPC bleed duct assembly and test pieces.

      1. Dry.

      2. Air dry at room temperature for approximately 20 minutes.

      1. Visually examine coating surface.

      2. Use 10x magnifying glass.

        Foreign inclusions are not permitted.

        Cracks are not permitted.

        Blisters are not permitted.

        Wrinkles are not permitted.

        Waviness is not permitted.

        Non-uniform coating surface is not permitted.

      1. Cure coating.

      2. Cure at 365 to 383 deg F (185 to 195 deg C) for 120 to 135 minutes.

    3. Remove masking tape from LPC bleed duct assembly.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-086 Examine the Teflon Coating

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Examine test pieces.

      2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

        If test pieces are not acceptable, do step paragraph 5 again.

      1. Visually examine coating surface.

      2. Use 10x magnifying glass.

        Cracks are not permitted.

        Bubbles are not permitted.

        Foreign inclusions are not permitted.

        Peelings are not permitted.

        Blisters are not permitted.

        Wrinkles are not permitted.

        Waviness are not permitted.

      1. Examine coating thickness.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-25-00-250-501.

        0.001496 to 0.0025196 in. (0.038 to 0.064 mm) is permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-087 Install the Seal of LPC Bleed Duct Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Install the seal.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-32-60-300-013 (VRS1916) or TASK 72-32-60-300-014 (VRS1338).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-088 Surface Treat the Repaired Area

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Do a chemical touch up to the repaired area except teflon coated surface by a brush.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-089 Examine the LPC Bleed Duct Assembly

      1. Do a visual inspection.

      2. Visually examine the LPC bleed duct assembly for nicks, scratches and/or damaged.

        Use 10x magnifying glass.

        Refer to TASK 72-32-60-200-000 (INSPECTION/CHECK-000).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-126 Identify the Repair

      1. Mark VRS1339 next to the part number.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501, SPM SUBTASK 70-09-00-400-001.

        Use vibro-engraving equipment.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-110-073 Clean the Marking Area

      1. Clean the marking area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-127 Surface Treat the Marking Area

      1. Do a chemical touch-up to the marking area with a brush.
