This repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in the inspection procedures (identified by the applicable part number) located in TASK 72-41-23-200-001-A00, TASK 72-41-23-200-001-B00 and TASK 72-41-23-200-001-C00, Inspection-001.

This Repair replaces the surface protection on the HPC Rear Outer Case.

TASKS identified by SPM TASK are in the Standard Practices Manual (SPM).

More equipment and materials necessary to do this repair are in each SPM TASK identified in this repair.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-330-071 Remove the Coat

    2. If the surface protection coating is not already removed or not completely removed, remove the coat completely by TASK 72-41-00-100-000 (Cleaning-000).

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-280 Mark the Part

    2. Mark the part with VRS6178 adjacent to the assembly part number. See Figure Index [2] and Figure, Index [2].

    3. Use vibration peen by SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-380-155 Apply Surface Protection

      1. Prepare the surface and apply the surface protection coating and examine the coated surface on the part by one of the following procedures. Refer to Figure and Figure. Unless otherwise stated in the figures, apply coat all over the part.

        1. For PN 6A2949, PN 6A3557, PN 6A4154 and PN 6A5495, refer to Figure.

      1. Mark the part with the part number and VRS6178 adjacent to the assembly part number. See Figure Index [2] and Figure, Index [2].

      2. Use temporary marking by SPM TASK 70-09-01-400-501.

        1. CoMat 06-073 INK, METAL MARKING must be completely dry prior to application of CoMat 07-125 LACQUER.

        2. Apply two thin coats of CoMat 07-125 LACQUER to avoid dissolving ink pigment. Allow each layer to dry prior to the next coat.

        3. Heavier application of CoMat 07-125 LACQUER is permitted after the light application of the coating completely dries.
