Material of component
The HP compressor stage 7 LH lower air seal assembly is made of titanium.
General
This Repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in 75- 32-52 Inspection.
This Repair replaces captive nuts on the HP compressor stage 7 LH lower air seal assembly.
The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK/SUBTASK numbers are in the SPM.

Refer to SPM TASK 70-35-12-300-501, SUBTASK 70-35-12-350-001.
Use a Vertical drilling machine or a Portable grinding machine.
Remove the rivets.
Remove the burrs.
SUBTASK 75-32-52-350-064 Remove Damaged or Loose Captive Nuts

CAUTION
TITANIUM COMPONENTSYOU MUST USE SILICONE CARBIDE WHEELS, STONES AND ABRASIVE PAPERS TO REMOVE AND POLISH MATERIAL.DO NOT FORCE WITH MECHANICAL CUTTERS OR THE MATERIAL BECOMES TOO HOT.IF THE MATERIAL SHOWS COLOUR CHANGES, BECAUSE OF HEAT, OTHER THAN LIGHT STRAW, THE COMPONENT MUST BE REJECTED.Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-01-300-503.
Chemically clean the case assembly.
SUBTASK 75-32-52-110-065 Clean the Air Seal Assembly
Visually examine and measure the dimensions of the rivet holes.
Refer to SPM TASK 70-09-01-400-501.
Identify the holes, which are damaged or are for the larger rivets.
SUBTASK 75-32-52-220-070 Examine the Rivet Holes
Drill and countersink oversize holes to suit the larger rivet, if necessary.
Use 4W00039 4W0039 NUT, SELF LOCKING PLATE, .250 DIA, 12 off, 01-078 as necessary and a 0.190-32 UNJF bolt with Standard Workshop Equipment.
Put a bolt through the air seal assembly flange and attach the nut in the correct position.
Drill the holes in the self locking plate for standard or the larger rivets, as necessary.
Remove the burrs.
SUBTASK 75-32-52-323-051 Drill the Rivet Holes

Do a local penetrant crack test of the drilled holes.

Visually examine and measure the dimensions of the rivet holes.
SUBTASK 75-32-52-220-082 Examine the Air Seal
Use AS16446 AS16446 RIVET, SOLID CSK HEAD, 2.4MM (.094) DIA and/or AS16487AS16487 RIVET, SOLID CSK HEAD, as necessary.
Install the rivets.
Refer to SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.
Cold squeeze the rivets.
Remove the bolts.

Cracks are not permitted.
Do a penetrant crack test.
