This Repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in 75-32-54 Inspection/Check.

This Repair replaces loose and/or damaged rivet(s), damaged retaining ring(s) and/or a damaged seal duct, in the HP compressor stage 10 RH upper air seal assembly.

When loose and/or damaged rivet(s) are to be replaced, go to Step.

When a damaged seal duct or retaining ring(s) is to be replaced, go to Step.

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-110-054 Clean the Assembly

      1. Chemically clean

      2. Refer to Cleaning-000 TASK 75-32-54-100-100.

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-230-056 Do a Crack Test

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-323-051 Remove Loose and/or Damaged Rivet(s)

      NOTE

      The SUBTASKS which follow must only be used to replace loose and/or damaged rivet(s).
    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Remove loose and/or damaged rivet(s).

      2. Use drill diameter that is smaller than the rivet hole diameter.

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-220-058 Examine the Rivet Hole(s)

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Visually examine and measure the diameter of the exposed rivet hole(s).

      2. If diameter of the rivet hole(s) is larger than 0.164 in. (4.175 mm) discard whole silencer assembly.

      3. Mark damaged and oversized rivet holes.

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-323-051 Drill the Rivet Hole(s)

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Drill damaged rivet hole(s) to suit the larger rivet(s) as necessary.

      1. Remove the sharp edges around the rivet hole(s).

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-110-055 Chemically Clean

      1. Chemically clean around the rivet hole(s).

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-230-057 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a local penetrant crack test around the rivet hole(s).

      3. Alternatively, AS46789-411 RIVET - BLIND, UNIVERSAL HEAD, 12 max. (75-32-54, 01-380) and/or large AS46789-512 RIVET - BLIND, UNIVERSAL HEAD, 12 max. (75-32-54, 01-382) for large holes.

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-390-051 Safety the Rivet(s) in Place

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Cold squeeze the rivet(s) in place.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-110-056 Chemically Clean

      1. Chemically clean around the rivet head(s).

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-230-058 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a local penetrant crack test on the new rivet(s).

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        1. Discard cracked rivet(s).

      1. Put a mark on each part, to make sure that they agree at assembly.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-09-01-400-501.

      1. Remove the rivets to release the seal duct and/or retaining ring(s).

    3. Discard the damaged seal duct.

    4. Discard the damaged retaining ring(s).

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-220-065 Examine the Rivet Holes

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Visually examine and measure the diameter of the rivet holes.

      2. If diameter of the rivet hole(s) is larger than 0.164 in. (4.175 mm) discard whole silencer assembly.

      3. Mark damaged and oversized rivet holes.

      3. Do Step, Step, and Step as necessary.

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-350-055-B00 Install a New or Serviceable Seal Duct or Retaining Ring(s)

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    3. Align the marks made in Step.

      1. Install a new or serviceable seal duct.

      2. Use 1012489 or (Supplier PN: ARM944) , 1 off, (75-32-54, 01-386).

      1. Install a new or serviceable retaining ring(s).

      2. Use 6M1190 RING, RETAINING - SEAL, 2 max. (75-32-54, 01-385).

      1. Install the rivets to safety all sub parts in position.

      2. Use AS16090 RIVET - SOLID UNIVERSAL HEAD, 12 max. (75-32-54, 01-380) and/or large AS16132 RIVET - SOLID UNIVERSAL HD, 12 max. (75-32-54, 01-382) for large holes.

      3. Alternatively AS46789-411 RIVET - BLIND, UNIVERSAL HEAD, 12 max. (75-32-54, 01-380) and/or large AS46789-512 RIVET - BLIND, UNIVERSAL HEAD, 12 max. (75-32-54, 01-382) for large holes.

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-390-052 Safety the New or Serviceable Seal Duct and Retaining Ring(s) in Place

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Cold squeeze the rivets in place.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.

    1. SUBTASK 75-32-54-110-057 Chemically Clean

      1. Chemically clean the rivet head(s).

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.
