Common Information
TASK 71-00-00-700-007-B00 Test No. 7 (A5) - Break-In Of a Newly Overhauled Engine/Module, Testing-007
General
Instructions to operate the engine, engine safety precautions, and other general information are found in Engine Safety Precautions and Engine Operation Limits, Guidelines, and Special Precautions. Refer to TASK 71-00-00-700-050-B00 and TASK 71-00-00-700-051-B00.
You can use this procedure to wear-in the engine airseals the same as from the usual engine operation. This test can also be used to check repaired or replaced components which need high power operation.
If possible, do the wear-in of the engine airseals before transient engine operation and steady-state performance measurement.
If this test is to be done to check the No. 4 bearing compartment scavenge valve or airflow control system components, only operate to Band B for one minute. Refer to Figure.
Operate the Engine to Wear the Seals In
Do the necessary steps by the instructions in Pre-Rig the Engine for Testing. Refer to TASK 71-00-00-700-020.
Start the engine by the instructions given for an automatic or manual engine start. Refer to the Normal Engine Automatic Start Procedure or the Normal Engine Manual Start Procedure, TASK 71-00-00-700-053-B01 and TASK 71-00-00-700-053-B02.
Operate the engine at MIN IDLE for five minutes to stabilize.
Do not continue to operate the engine if any indications are unusual.
With the engine at MIN IDLE and the EEC in the EPR mode of operation do the steps which follow:
Slowly increase the engine speed to Band D. Refer to Figure. Let the engine become stable for two minutes.
Slowly increase the engine speed to Band C, then let the engine become stable for two minutes.
Slowly increase the engine speed to Band B, then let the engine become stable for two minutes.
Slowly increase the engine speed to the applicable band A * then let the engine become stable for two minutes.
* Band A that is applicable for the V2533-A5 model is defined as any A5 engine with serial number V10198 and greater.
* V2530-A5 model Band A is defined as any A5 engine with serial number V10197 and lower.
Go back to MIN IDLE.
Do a shutdown by the Discontinued Start and Shutdown Procedures. Refer to TASK 71-00-00-700-054-B00.
Do the necessary steps by the instructions in De-Rig the Engine after Testing. Refer to TASK 71-00-00-700-021.
