General

This TASK gives the procedure to install the stage 10 air solenoid valve on to the engine.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha-variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the item number.

Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-039 ENGINE OIL unless other lubricants are referred in the procedure.

For the torque tightening procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501 and TASK 70-41-01-400-501.

For the data on the electrical connector refer to the SPM TASKS TASK 70-43-00-400-501 and TASK 70-43-01-400-501.

For the lockwire data and procedures refer to the SPM TASK 70-42-05-400-501.

For safety cable data and procedures refer to the SPM TASK 70-42-08-400-501.

Safety the threaded fasteners in the ATA Chapter/Section/Subject 71-51-41 as applicable with CoMat 02-274 SAFETY CABLE KIT or CoMat 02-275 SAFETY CABLE KIT.

The engine must be isolated from starting air supply, fuel supply and electrical power source while you do this procedure.

NOTE

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.
SBE 70-0813 : Announcement of introduction of safety cable as a preferred method to lockwire.
Safety the threaded fasteners in this TASK with safety cable for the ATA Chapter/Section/Subject detailed in 2. General.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-32-450-073 Install the Stage 10 Air Solenoid Valve

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove all the covers/caps/plugs from the openings.

    3. Make sure that the two clipnuts AIR-STAGE 10 AIR SOLENOID VALVE (75-23-52, 01-115) are correctly installed on the bracket.

    4. Install the valve AIR-STAGE 10 AIR SOLENOID VALVE (75-23-52, 01-100) on to the bracket and safety with the three bolts AIR-STAGE 10 AIR SOLENOID VALVE (75-23-52, 01-110) and washers AIR-STAGE 10 AIR SOLENOID VALVE (75-23-52, 01-113). Torque the bolts to 36 to 40 lbf.in (4.07 to 4.52 Nm).

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-32-450-074 Connect the Electrical Connector and the Air Tubes to the Valve

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      2. Install the HP3 air inlet tube.

      1. Connect the HP3 air inlet tube to the valve and the HP3 air tube.

      2. Torque the nuts of the HP3 air inlet tube to 204 to 221 lbf.in (23.00 to 25.00 Nm).

      3. Safety the nuts of the HP3 air inlet tube with CoMat 02-119 LOCKWIRE.

      3. Connect the HP3 air outlet tube.

      1. Connect the HP3 air outlet tube to the valve.

      2. Torque the nut of the tube to 159 to 177 lbf.in (18.00 to 20.00 Nm).

      3. Safety the nut of the tube with CoMat 02-119 LOCKWIRE.

    4. Connect the electrical connector 4028KS-A to the valve.

    3. SUBTASK 72-00-32-210-085 Visually Inspect the Electrical Backshells and Cable Clamps

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Make sure that all the applicable connectors, backshells and cable clamps are secure.

    3. Make sure that all the applicable backshells and cable clamps are safetied with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-42-05-400-501.

    4. SUBTASK 72-00-32-210-086 Visually Inspect the EEC Harness (01-005) Electrical Backshells and Cable Clamps (SBE 70-0813)

    1. NOTE

      Use this procedure to safety the EEC harness backshells and cable clamps with safety cable.

      Refer to Figure.

    2. Make sure that all the EEC harness connectors, backshells and cable clamps are secure.

    3. Make sure that all the EEC harness backshells and cable clamps are safetied. Safety with CoMat 02-274 SAFETY CABLE KIT or with CoMat 02-275 SAFETY CABLE KIT. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-42-08-400-501.
