TASK 72-00-32-020-001-A00 LPC/Intermediate Case Module - Remove The Hydraulic Tubes, Thermal Anti-ice Duct, Thermal Anti-Ice Insulation, Starter Air Duct, And EEC Cooling Ducts, Removal-001

General

This TASK also gives the TASK to remove the air intake cowl and the external gearbox module. Refer to the TASK which follow for the other related procedures.

Remove the LP compressor/intermediate case electrical harnesses by TASK 72-00-32-020-002.

Remove the LP compressor/intermediate case tubes and the electrical harness raceways by TASK 72-00-32-020-003.

Remove the LP compressor/intermediate case components by TASK 72-00-32-020-004.

Remove the LP compressor/intermediate case brackets and the bifurcation panel by TASK 72-00-32-020-005.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the EIPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the EIPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

Apply the approved CoMat 10-058 PENETRATING OIL before the removal of threaded parts. Let the parts soak before removal.

Discard all rubber seal rings, split cotter pins and gaskets removed in this procedure.

Remove and discard the lockwire and keywashers before the tube, connector or component is disconnected.

All the tubes, hoses and ducts removed in this procedure must have their maintenance completed, as given in the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM-THD-V2500-1IA) or the Aeroquip Maintenance Manual (29-11-49) as specified.

Seal all openings when the tubes and components are disconnected to prevent contamination from unwanted material.

NOTE

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

Procedure

1. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.
2. 1. Refer to Figure.
  2. CAUTION
    MAKE SURE THAT THE CUT LOCKWIRE DOES NOT FALL INTO THE ENGINE.
    Remove and discard the lockwire from the inner and outer venturi duct insulation halves Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-220) and Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-225).
  3. Remove and discard the lockwire from the inner and outer pipe insulation halves Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-210) and Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-215).
  4. Remove the installed clamps that attach the inner and outer venturi duct insulation halves Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-220) and Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-225) to the venturi duct. Remove the inner and outer venturi duct insulation halves.
  5. Remove the installed clamps that attach the inner and outer pipe insulation halves Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-210) and Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-215) to the duct assembly. Remove the pipe insulation halves.
3. 1. Attach temporary ties to the rear of the duct Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-070), to hold it in safety. Refer to Figure and Figure.
4. 1. Remove the air intake cowl and the TAI duct. Refer to TASK 71-11-11-020-001 and TASK 71-11-11-040-001.
5. 1. Pre SBN 71-0069 and Pre SBE 71-0070: Disconnect the hose 237 from the duct union.
  2. Remove the bolt, the flanged bush, the washer and the nut which attach the female link bearing to the duct. Refer to the detail on A.
  3. NOTE
    The procedure for the remaining TAI ducts (7th stage offtake) is given in TASK 72-00-40-020-003.
    Remove the temporary ties. Remove the duct and the attached coupling.
6. 1. NOTE
    The female link bearings and the connecting rod removed in this procedure must have their maintenance completed, as given in the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM-MECH-V2500-1IA).
    Remove the bolt, the flanged bush, the washer and the nut which attach the female link bearing to the bracket. Remove the female link bearings from the connecting rod. Refer to the detail on A.
1. Remove the tubes and harnesses from the external gearbox module. Refer to TASK 72-00-60-020-001 and TASK 72-00-60-020-002.
1. Remove the external gearbox module as given in TASK 72-00-60-020-003-001.
1. Refer to Figure. Figure and Figure.
2. 1. Disconnect the electrical connector 4005KS-A from the starter control valve.
  2. Hold the starter valve and remove the coupling which attaches the valve to the upper duct.
  3. NOTE
    The starter valve removed in this procedure must have its maintenance completed, as given in the Sumitomo/Hamilton Standard Component Maintenance Manual (80-13-51).
    Remove the starter valve and the seal. Put a blanking cap on each end of the starter valve.
3. 1. Remove the bolt, the flanged bush, the washer and the nut which attach the female link bearing STARTING-STARTER DUCT (80-13-49, 01-060) to the upper duct. Refer to the detail on A. Temporarily install the bolt and the nut to hold the upper duct to the female link bearing.
  2. Disconnect the female link bearing STARTING-STARTER DUCT (80-13-49, 01-088) from the upper duct. Do the procedure in step (1). Temporarily attach the upper duct to the female link bearing.
  3. Remove the bolt, the flanged bush, the washer and the nut which attach the female link bearing STARTING-STARTER DUCT (80-13-49, 01-180) to the upper duct. Refer to the detail on B. Temporarily install the bolt and the nut to hold the upper duct to the female link bearing.
  4. Remove the bolt, the flanged bush, the washer and the nut which attach the female link bearing STARTING-STARTER DUCT (80-13-49, 01-125) to the upper duct.
  5. Hold the upper duct and remove the three bolts and the three nuts temporarily installed in steps (1) to (3). Remove the upper duct and the coupling STARTING-STARTER DUCT (80-13-49, 01-200).
4. 1. Remove the bolt, the flanged bush, the washer and the nut which attach the male link bearing STARTING-STARTER DUCT (80-13-49, 01-070) to the link bracket. Remove the male link bearing from the female link bearing. Refer to the detail on A.
  2. Do the procedure given in the previous step and remove the female link bearings STARTING-STARTER DUCT (80-13-49, 01-088) from the connecting rod.
  3. Remove the bolt, the flanged bush, the washer and the nut which attach the female link bearing STARTING-STARTER DUCT (80-13-49, 01-180) to the flange FA1 support brackets. Remove the female link bearings from the connecting rod. Refer to the detail on B.
  4. NOTE
    The link bearings and the connecting rods removed in this procedure must have their maintenance completed, as given in the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM-MECH-V2500-I1A).
    Remove the bolt, the flanged bush, the washer and the nut which attach the female link bearing STARTING-STARTER DUCT (80-13-49, 01-125) to the flange FA1 support brackets. Remove the female link bearings from the connecting rod.

2. 1. Hold each union with a spanner and disconnect the hose 230, 231 and 232 nuts from the unions.
  2. Hold the hose assemblies and remove the two bolts which secure the clamp HYDRAULIC POWER-ENGINE MOUNTED HYDRAULIC TUBES (29-11-49, 01-125) to the fairlead bracket. Remove the hose assemblies. Refer to the detail on B.
  3. Remove the two clamps HYDRAULIC POWER-ENGINE MOUNTED HYDRAULIC TUBES (29-11-49, 01-125 and HYDRAULIC POWER-ENGINE MOUNTED HYDRAULIC TUBES 01-540) from the hose assemblies.
  4. Remove the coupling HYDRAULIC POWER-ENGINE MOUNTED HYDRAULIC TUBES (29-11-49, 01-102) and the self sealing coupling HYDRAULIC POWER-ENGINE MOUNTED HYDRAULIC TUBES (29-11-49, 01-502) from the hoses 230 and 231. Refer to the detail on A.
3. 1. Pre SBN 29-0001: Disconnect the hose 233 from the tube 211 and from the union on the hydraulic switch mount adaptor. Remove the hose 233.
    SBN 29-0001: Disconnect the hose 233 from the tube 211 and from the elbow connector on the hydraulic switch mount adaptor. Remove the hose 233.
4. 1. Disconnect the hose 212 from the tube 213.
  2. Disconnect the hose 210 from the tube 211.
  3. Remove the three bolts and the top line support block. Refer to the detail on E.
  4. Disconnect the tube 213 from the union. Refer to the detail on C.
  5. Disconnect the tube 211 from the union.
  6. Hold the tubes 211 and 213. Remove the three bolts, the top line support block and the tubes 211 and 213. Refer to the detail on D.
  7. Disconnect the tube 215 from the union on the hydraulic case drain filter. Refer to the detail on F.
  8. Disconnect and remove the tube 215 from the union and remove the two remaining line support blocks. Refer to the details on C, D and E.
5. 1. Disconnect the hose 214 from the hydraulic case drain filter union. Refer to the detail on F.
  2. Remove the bolt, the nut and the clip at the clip position 0902 which attach the hose 214 to the raft. Remove the hose 214.
6. 1. Remove the three nuts which attach the three unions to the mounting bracket. Remove the three unions.
7. 1. Tubes 211, 213 and 215 must have their maintenance completed as given in the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM-THD-V2500-1IA).
  2. Hoses 210, 212, 214 and 230 to 233 must have their maintenance completed as given in the Aeroquip Maintenance Manual (29-11-49).
  3. Coupling HYDRAULIC POWER-ENGINE MOUNTED HYDRAULIC TUBES (29-11-49, 01-102) and self sealing coupling HYDRAULIC POWER-ENGINE MOUNTED HYDRAULIC TUBES (29-11-49, 01-502) must have their maintenance completed as given in the Aeroquip Maintenance Manual (29-11-49).
1. Refer to Figure and Figure.
2. 1. Loosen the four clamps which secure the two flexible outlet hoses to the ejector duct and the EEC. Disconnect the two hoses from the ejector duct.
  2. Disconnect the tube 234 from the ejector duct and the hose 237.
  3. Remove the two bolts which secure the ejector duct to the support bracket EEC Fan Harness And Ignition Supply Harness (71-51-42, 05-700).
  4. Remove the bolts, the washers, the nut, the clipnuts and the clips at the clip positions 0934, 0935, 0936 and 0825. Remove the ejector duct, the seal and the tube 234.
  5. Remove the four bolts which attach the support bracket and the bracket EEC Fan Harness And Ignition Supply Harness (71-51-42, 05-700 and EEC Fan Harness And Ignition Supply Harness 05-720) to the raft.
1. Refer to Figure and Figure.
2. 1. Remove the bolts, the washers, the nuts, the spacer and the clips at the clip positions 0793 and 0794. Remove the hose 237.
  2. Temporarily install the bolt, the washers and the nut at the clip position 0793 to attach the tube 142 to the flange bracket.
3. 1. Remove the two flexible outlet hoses with the four clamps attached to the EEC cooling outlet ports.
1. Refer to Figure and Figure.
2. 1. Remove the bolts, the washers, the nuts and the clips at the clip positions 0793 and 0794. Remove the hose 237.
  2. Temporarily install the bolt, the washers and the nut at the clip positions 0793 to attach the tube 142 to the flange bracket.
3. 1. Remove the two flexible outlet hoses with the four clamps attached to the EEC cooling outlet ports.

2. 1. Loosen the four clamps which secure the two flexible inlet hoses to the EEC inlet and the EEC. Disconnect the two hoses from the EEC inlet.
  2. NOTE
    The bracket Ignition Relay Box(71-51-49, 01-380) and the bracket Fuel System Air Tubes (73-22-49, 03-470) is removed in TASK 72-00-32-020-005.
    Remove the two bolts, the washer and the two nuts which attach the EEC inlet to the flange FB.
  3. Remove the two bolts, the two washers and the two nuts which attach the EEC inlet to the bracket Fuel System Air Tubes (73-22-49, 03-800).
3. 1. Remove the two flexible inlet hoses with the four clamps attached to the EEC cooling inlet ports.
