TASK 72-32-00-430-008-D00 LPC/Intermediate Case Module - Install The LPC Bleed Duct, Booster Stage Bleed Valve And Actuating Mechanism, LPC Stage 2.5 Vane, And Right And Left Rod Assemblies (Post Surgical Strike Procedure), Assembly-008

General

This TASK gives the procedure to install the LP compressor bleed duct, the booster stage bleed valve and actuating mechanism, the LP compressor stage 2.5 vane and the right and left rod assemblies assembly on to the LP Compressor/Intermediate case module on which HP system module, the LP turbine module and the external gearbox module are installed. Where TASK 72-32-00-030-008-C00 (DISASSEMBLY-008, CONFIG-003) is used for removal of the LP compressor bleed duct, the booster stage bleed valve and actuating mechanism, the LP compressor stage 2.5 vane and the right and left rod assemblies assembly, use this TASK for installation of those parts.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

For standard torque data and procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501, SPM TASK 70-41-01-400-501 and SPM TASK 70-41-02-400-501.

Special torque data and assembly tolerances are included in the procedure.

Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS, unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.

To identify and install tab washers, refer to the SPM TASK 70-42-03-400-501.

Special torque data is identified with the symbol * after the torque value.

The number for each radial location must be identified in a clockwise direction. These start at the engine top position when you look from the rear of the engine, unless stated differently in the procedure.

The No.1 strut, which is the top position strut of the fan frame, is identified by the five pressure tubes on the No. 1 strut leading edge.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-430-385 Apply Jointing Compound

    2. Apply jointing compound to the mating faces (area A) on the fan frame.

      Refer to TASK 72-32-00-430-008-C00 (ASSEMBLY-008, CONFIG-003).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-430-386 Install the Seals, the Seal Retainers and the Screens

    2. Install the seals, the seal retainers and the screens on the LP compressor bleed duct.

      Refer to TASK 72-32-00-430-008-C00 (ASSEMBLY-008, CONFIG-003).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-430-387 Install the LP Compressor Bleed Duct

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Install the LP compressor bleed duct assembly on to the fan frame.

      2. Turn the LP compresspr bleed duct assembly vertically with the front end up on a work bench.

      3. Lubricate the area C on strip seal of the fan frame with CoMat 10-038 PETROLEUM JELLY. Refer to TASK 72-32-00-430-008-C00 (ASSEMBLY-008, CONFIG-003).

      4. Algin the TOP mark of the LP compressor bleed duct assembly with the top position (No.1 strut) of the fan frame.

      5. Put the LP compressor bleed duct assembly on to the fan frame.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-430-388 Install the Booster Stage Bleed valve and Actuating Mechanism (Actuating Mechanism)

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Align the TOP mark of the actuating mechanism with the TOP mark of the LP compressor bleed duct.

    4. Put the actuating mechanism on to the LP compressor bleed duct.

    5. Put the 20 bushes LP Compressor (LPC) - Intermediate Structure Module (72-32-00, 01-765) in to the holes in the actuating mechanism.

    6. Install the 20 bolts LP Compressor (LPC) - Intermediate Structure Module (72-32-00, 01-760) in to the threads in the fan frame through the bushes.

    7. Torque the bolts to 180 to 220 lbfin (20.00 to 25.00 Nm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-430-389 Apply Jointing Compound

    2. Apply jointing compound to the mating faces (area B) on the fan frame.

      Refer to TASK 72-32-00-430-008-C00 (ASSEMBLY-008, CONFIG-003).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-430-390 Install the LP Compressor Stage 2.5 vanes (Stage 2.5 Vanes) to the Fan Frame

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    3. Move the stage 2.5 vanes adjacent to the fan frame.

    4. Align the 18 bolt holes in the stage 2.5 vanes with the 18 threads in the fan frame.

    5. Attach the stage 2.5 vanes to the fan frame and safety with 18 bolts LP Compressor (LPC) - Intermediate Structure Module (72-32-00, 01-675) and washers LP Compressor (LPC) - Intermediate Structure Module (72-32-00, 01-680).

    6. Torque the 18 bolts LP Compressor (LPC) - Intermediate Structure Module(72-32-00,01-675) to between 85 and 105 lbfin (10.00 and 12.00 Nm).

      1. Attach the stage 2.5 vanes to the ring support of the bleed valve and actuating mechanism.

      2. Attach the stage 2.5 vanes to the ring support with the 20 bushes (72-32-00,01-670) and bolts LP Compressor (LPC) - Intermediate Structure Module (72-32-00, 01-660).

      3. Torque the bolts to 57 to 63 * lbfin (6.48 to 7.08 Nm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-430-391 Install the Right and Left Rod Assemblies

    2. Install the right and left rod assemblies. Refer to TASK 72-32-00-430-008-C00 (ASSEMBLY-008, CONFIG-003).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-430-392 Rigging Check for the Right and Left Rod Assemblies

    2. Install the setting fixture and do a rigging check for the right and left rod assemblies. After that, remove the setting fixture. Refer to TASK 72-32-00-430-008-C00 (ASSEMBLY-008, CONFIG-003).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-430-393 Install the LP Compressor Bleed Actuators and the LP Compressor Bleed Actuator Mount Brackets

    2. Install the LP compressor bleed actuators and the LP compressor bleed actuator mount brackets. Refer to TASK 72-00-40-420-006-B00 (INSTALLATION-009, CONFIG-002), TASK 72-00-40-420-006-C00 (INSTALLATION-009, CONFIG-003) and 72-00-40-420-006-D00 (INSTALLATION-009, CONFIG-004).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-00-430-394 Install the LP Compressor Booster Stage Assembly

    2. Install the LP Compressor booster stage assembly from the LP Compressor/Intermediate case module. Refer to TASK 72-32-00-430-010-D00 (ASSEMBLY-010, CONFIG-004).
